I will be following this as well! Keep up the good work!
P.S. you must have a really good computer to deal with all the lag from your various farms lol.
Sunlight to clear void fog while building. Not entirely necessary, but I have basically infinite iron pickaxes, so it doesn't matter.
Ah, makes sense. I liked your idea so much I had started excavating my own chunk. After clearing out the first ~15 levels realized how much of an undertaking it was and posted my question. Then I started digging down to the bottom to just clear out the bottom ~40, but then quickly got annoyed with how dark it was getting "Infinite iron pickaxes" ... and lots of spare time ;-)
The slime chunk farm is now complete and functional! Details are in the main post. Time to pat myself on the back for a job well done. Currently AFKing to see how much slime per time unit it generates.

Not OP but I have worked on a world with a LOT of farms, and it doesn't lag nearly as much as you think even with my mediocre laptop. The main causes of lag I think would be hoppers, item frames and a build up of entities (>300). So unless you have hundreds of hoppers or item frames in a small space, it shouldn't be too bad.
On topic though, awesome world. I'll sure be following this to see your take on the farms. I'll probably even make some of it in my own world.
I'm starting work on the Enderman grinder, now that I've slain the dragon. I might build the automatic obsidian generator to use obsidian for building blocks, that might be kinda cool.
Sorry about the no updates, I've been really busy with real life things, plus I was experimenting with a completely new type of Enderman farm of my own invention in a creative test world, and it appears to be working very well so far besides a few minor design kinks which I hope to iron out.
In theory, my new type of Enderman farm should bypass the mob spawning cap. It also pools all spawned endermen into a single block location that allows you to stand still and continually left click and receive EXP.
All in one block, very nice, whats the time to level 30? Bypassing the spawning cap with naturally spawned mobs? Doesn't sound possible..
With the way I have the spawning platforms set now, the average time to level 30 is the same as traditional End farms, with the additional benefit of not having to move to kill endermen, which would technically allow you to afk with an autoclicker.
About bypassing the mob cap, after rereading the section on spawning, I misunderstood the way the mob cap works(If it worked the way I thought it did, then the farm would bypass it). The farm still has other benefits though. Also, it's still technically possible to bypass the mob cap, via use of portals.
A mob valve system detects when there's maximum mobs, then shuts down the machinery at the end of the current cycle(It can't be shut down immediately, losing power during a cycle breaks the machinery and requires that the player manually replace about 10 blocks).
The issue with not using fancy redstone the way I do is that you use up vertical space to pool the mobs.
In any case, to deal with the hitbox problem, best solution would probably be to add another block space behind the block where you pool the endermen too. All the endermen will still be in reach, but when you hit the endermen, they'll be knocked backwards behind all the living endermen.
That's unfortunate to hear. I'm pretty stacked on work too until next week, when my christmas break starts. Have done next to nothing in my world as well :/

Can't wait to see all the automators!
Check the main post for details!
Found one of these when I just finished the farm. It'll go towards a Wither-Cobblestone generator!
By the way, this is my house:
Do you guys like it?
