My friend sent me a zip of a world he created, claiming its 100% survival, but I'm suspicious. Is there any way of figuring out if he used creative at any point (there don't seem to be any creative only blocks in the world).
I know on Xbox you can't get achievements if you ever used creative, is there a method like this for PC.
You could look at the statistics, which are stored with a world, in the stats subfolder, and check to see if the numbers for things like blocks mined/crafted/placed and tool usage are consistent (for example, the stone needed to make the stone-based blocks they placed should use no more stone than was mined/picked up, same for wood, and you should see that they crafted them and the usage of tools should reflect the amount mined); an unusually high "distance flown" stat may also be suspicious (note that this does not just count Creative flying so a nonzero value is normal; for example, here is a screenshot of my stats (from before I modded the game to only count Creative flight due to somebody claiming that I used Creative because of this stat. Of course, mods can also be used to cheat without making it as apparent, but I'd still expect the stats to show anomalies).
I've recently started playing legacy minecraft on PS4 ie. The old version of minecraft, I'm on a world me and my granddaughter made many years ago, it's in survival but she had a habit of switching to creative if she was trapped etc. Then switching back and ruining that world for trophies, is there a way to tell if this is one of those worlds, there won't be any extra items or anything like that, I could try and win a trophy but done all the easier ones, I really like what we did with this world but no point trying to find end portal etc. If it won't count.
It is hard to know if someone has cheated unless their world on the console versions has trophies or achievements disabled.
Having experience with people who played the game, my advise to them is any survival world they cheated on I'd suggest they delete that world and start over, that is if they care about having accomplished something they haven't yet earned.
I wouldn't go as far to say they should be banned for it though.
I couldn't care less if people cheat in either single player or private games with their friends. It is only when they are cheating in public online matches then they are effectively harassing people making them worthy of reporting and at least a temporary ban, perhaps 2 days to a week for each offence, longer if they're a security risk to the servers they're playing on.
I had remorse for accepting duped diamonds on an Xbox 360 world years ago and I deleted that world many years back by the time I had an Xbox One, having experienced legit survival in the newer versions of the game I can never go back, as the experience is worth the thrill, and if you know how to use the enchanting system and everything else, the game becomes easy enough that you never have to cheat on any of it, it's all about learning how the mechanics work.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
