So I've been thinking about making an automatic cobblestone generator. But the difference between this and just a cobblestone generator is that the cobblestone is not broken by the player, but rather another material. My problem is that I can't figure out any way. I thought about the use of tnt but that means actually getting tnt. Or using creepers but that means finding a creeper spawner, which I don't think even exist.
You could make a stone generator instead, to make the cobblestone generator slightly faster to break with a pickaxe, but I don't think there's a good way to break cobblestone automatically. It would definitely help me out if there was, though.
You put water on the ground and surround it expect for one gap facing the spot where you do the same with lava.
make sure they are 2-3 blocks appart from eachother.
Then set up an automatic piston (i dont know how) to push the cobblestone.
Then when you have a line of 6 cobble stop it and put a one block wall there.
and put a piston to retract the dirt automatically to fall in a tunnel with a stream. Then you stand at the end of the stream and gather the cobble. It works but its hard. also I didnt explain it too well.
JL2579 on Youtube has a good design. It requires a dark room mob grinder with a sorter of some sort so you only get creepers (you can do this with iron golems if you aren't interested in any of the other mob drops), then triggering them with a player moving on a timed minecart so the player is at maximum explosion range when the creeper goes off.
You feed the cobble blocks into the area for the creeper to explode, though it's VERY inefficient. You do not get 100% of the cobble blown up by the creeper, you need to pay some attention since you will eventually lose enough hunger to stop healing, then it's just a matter of time till the creepers kill you.

Do you have a lovely bunch of coconuts? Do you have them all standing in a row? Are there big ones, small ones, some as big as your head?

That is hilarious. Some people absolutely need to do things the hardest, most complicated way.

You can't automatically destroy items for an indefinate period of time without an action done by your character unless you use mods. For a regular generator holding down the LMB button you either wont yield any return (fists) or eventually your pickaxe of choice will break. For the creeper method you need to pay attention to your food bar. For the TnT method, you will eventually run out of TnT. A post above mentioned some mods that can let you break blocks automatically.

I believe the point of JL2579's method is to be able to AFK and collect cobblestone noninteractively. It's complicated, yes, but there's a real purpose to it.

Nope. The food bar doesn't drain when you're standing still or riding a boat or minecart. Specific actions (walking, sprinting, attacking, jumping, swimming, and a few others) contribute to your exhaustion level, which eventually translates to hunger. If you're AFK and not taking mob damage, no exhaustion-level-increasing action will be taking place.

Are you saying that the cobblestone will fall? cause if not could you explain in better

Cool idea. He could prob try to use it with snow golem's instead? You'd need a large reserve of snow golems to pull from when the current golem gets blown apart.
You are so mean.
There is a cool way. Ill explain

/give cobblestone 64
Or just go to creative?
Thanks for the idea. I'll go and try it out.

hmmmm, not sure how, been seeing many vids on utube, but none of them ctually work out when I try them out
