Recently in my current survival world I trekked thousands of blocks to find a nether fortress. Now that I've found it I need some tips for fighting blazes. I need help like what should be in my inventory, and what kind of amor should I wear.
I have killed blazes with no armor on hard. They are not that hard to kill. What you basically need to know of is their flame attacks. When you heard or see it being shot, move out of the way, or hide around a corner. The hiding around a corner trick is the best imo. This way you come out when the blaze is not attacking and hide when it is. Once you have like 2 rods, go back home and make some fire resistance potions. Then come back and fight the blazes with ease:)
But yeah, you can bring armor and a decent weapon to kill it. Some nice enchantments would be fire protection. But of course that stuff isn't required, it helps.

Don't know what to build? Here is a "What should I build?" generator!
The ideal minimum equipment I'd reccomend is: a full iron armour —diamond is better, but not necessary at all, really; if I was you I'd save my diamonds for better uses—, an iron sword, quite a bunch of torches, a pickaxe, a chest, and roughly half a stack of cobblestone.
First of all, find the exact location of a Blaze spawner. The spawners are located almost always on the terraces of the top floors of the nether fortresses, so as soon as you enter a fortress, navigate the halls and corridors, taking stairs up when you find them, and reach the bridges and terraces that form the top floors. You can mark your way back to your fortress entry point —and I call it "entry point" because nether fortresses don't have an entrance per se, and most commonly, people reach them through jumping on the top floors from nearby netherrack formations or digging holes into the fortress complex— with torches.
You'll need to fight not only blazes, but wither skeletons and ghasts in your way, too. Zombie pigmen can be avoided since they're neutral, and magma slimes are too slow to represent a menace. Wither skeletons shouldn't represent a bigger problem than zombies, since they lack ranged attacks and the fortress corridors are too narrow for the skeletons to be able to surround you. Ghasts will become a problem as soon as you reach the top floor, where there is no roof and you are exposed to open air. In fact, I've seen ghasts rushing to me when I reached blaze spawners so often I can swear both mobs must have a tendency to work together.
Find some safe spot before reaching open air and put the chest there. There is where you will store the blaze rods you farm between each wave of your attacks. Keeping them on your personal inventory is a bad idea, since fortresses can be very far away from portals —you yourself said "I trekked thousands of blocks"— and you risk losing them when you die.
Now, the best way I've found of killing blazes is ambushing them behind corners. That's why I advised to bring a pickaxe and a lot of cobblestone; if the close surroundings of the spawner lack structures in which to hide yourself, you can build walls/shacks yourself with cobblestone, which is easy to gather, and resistant to ghast fireballs, which this will also give you protection from. You can build them out of nether bricks too. So, once you have a nearby wall/corner to hide in, stand close to the spawner, wait for blazes to spawn, hide behind a corner or wall, and when they come too close or get past the corner and find you standing right next to them, give them all you've got. Each sword hit gives them a nice knockback that makes them easier to kill. Then go to your safe spot, store the rods in your chest, and repeat.
It is always good to have a fire resistance potion and a strong hitting sword. Despite the fact that snow golems would die insanely quickly, they can be good distractions, so you can dedicate some inventory space to that.
You could fight them with anything you want, but iron is enough
a bow is really usefull
But you can throw snowballs much faster than you can shoot a bow when the range is close, the damage adds up faster unless your bow is enchanted to a high level. Personally I prefer to enchant my "Nether armor set" for fire protection and just kill them with my looting III sword so they drop more blaze rods. It depends on where the spawner is located but you can often retreat around the corner of an already covered hallway and make them come to you. If the spawner is near an intersection of a bridge you can also make a short section of covered hallway around the corner from the spawner on the bridge very quickly and make them come to you.
For all those saying you need diamond swords/armor... Jesus Christ.
You can destroy a blaze in 3 hits with a sharpness 1 iron sword (or even a stone one). If you don't have fire resistance potions I recommend just dodging their attacks and then killing them before they can shoot again. Eventually you become good at dodging their fireballs.
You can easily take them down from a distance with a power 1 bow if you don't want to get too close.
It's important to note that unless your armor has fire protection it won't do ANYTHING to help you fight blazes. Really, try walking into a fire with diamond armor and see how safe it is.
The safest way to kill a blaze is by taking it out while you are immune to fire. They won't have anything on you then, and you wouldn't even need a strong sword. Hell, you could take down 5 with a wooden sword if you just drank a fire resistance potion.

So I was working on this really cool resource pack a while ago, but bad progress nonwithstanding, I think I found something much better... I'm probably gonna never release another custom Minecraft map.Until we meet again...
You should have at least some armour, and decent weapons. It's best to use a bow against Blazes, especially if you shoot them out of their sight range.
But if you want to actually fight them, attack just after they throw their fireballs at you.
1. Shoot first two blaze seen from out of aggro range (i.e. as far as you possibly can)
2. Make fire resist potions
3. CHARGEEEEEE
Fire resist potions make you immune to anything but their contact damage, which even iron armor will easily mitigate.
iron armour and weapons is fine. kill a few and get some nether wart then go back and brew potions of fire resistance. once u have fire resistance potions its reallly easy to kill blazes, just cover up the area around the spawner with only one exit (for you), drink your potions and kill them until your potion has nearly run out. make sure to get out with about 30 secs until your potion runs out, or drink another. for killing your first few just use a bow, stay safe and try to dodge their fireballs.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
2. Diamond sword
3. Build a small chamber around the spawner so the blazes won't escape
Should the armor or sword be enchanted? If so, what enchantment should I try to get?

I hope this helps.
After that you can get exp and blaze rods easily and carefree.
I hope this helped and good luck!

In about an hour and a half I got 5 blaze rods ( It took a while entering because of 5 ghasts circling around me). Thanks for your help everyone!
