RAGEQUIT or just start again.
But lava don't affect me so much due to my second health bar and strong armors (Not in vanilla)

Sorry, i recently abandoned VH but you can still help it. Check the RP section -AETHER 1.4.5 COMING SOON!-
Well, assuming I'm not playing Hardcore like I usually do, sigh and respawn basically. This kind of thing messes with me, but not for the usual reason. The stuff I had isn't important, everything important to me is in my head, but... having to lose all that stuff and shrug it off always leaves me wondering why I was bothering to mine in the first place. That's time I could have spent dancing, or practicing my artistic skills, or making cupcakes, and I spent it digging around gathering stuff that really doesn't matter? It always takes a while for mining to feel satisfying again after that, but you've got to carry on after all!

"Sometimes, I just wanna give up, say 'I'm done with this mess' and go to bed. But you know what; you can't shrug off your responsibilities. You got to pull yourself up and meet the challenges head on. That's the only way you're gonna get ahead in life."
I go back to the lava, and kill it with cobblestone. Then, when it's on its last tile, I say, "No respawn button for you!" Then I place the final block.
Usually I just resume the game and frantically sprint back to the spot where I died and collect what's left. If it's something beyond my control though, like a glitch, I'll go into creative and give myself the items and XP back.
I just respawn and get my items back through the same process as I got them in the first place.
At least, that's what I think I do.
I haven't died in lava since 1.2.5.
In fact, I haven't died since 1.3.
My avatar-Madison Gotha. She knows various weapons, she's a mage/sage, and is somewhat immortal. Madison has the capability of taming and communicating monsters, a genetic trait passed down by her father. 26 physically, 1400-something mentally, and a Lofty Peakian/Zenithian mix. Doesn't really like being called an elf and hates being called human..
I might be Moderator, but don't bother treating me too special. And don't make tons of Ban Hammer jokes, please. Also, I'm an Off-Topic only Mod. Don't ask me to lock a thread or something if it's not in the off-topic
Always always carry one fire resist potion on your hot bar. It dosn't matter what you are doing; fire and lava can take you by surprise. If you fall in, stop panicking, stop trying to swim back up. Simply scroll over to your fire resist pot and drink it. You might have one heart left, but it doesn't matter. You survived.
Make a habit of always carying two fire pots and two health pots on you when caving. The health pots should be splash, because if you are in a situation were you need health now, you probly need health NOW and don't have time to wait for the drinking animation to finish. In addition to this consider sacraficing an inventory slot when adventuring for a speed or night vision potion to make the treck back home with all your loot less painfull.
Option number 2 for me. I can accept that it's (usually) my fault for cooking myself and that if I got angry I'd only be getting mad at myself. What can ya do...
Wheres is the option for "Invite over a creeper to help with fixing the problems caused when you threw it across the room"?

My avatar is an alien parasitic killing machine that has used all the DNA on the planet to make itself into the ultimate being.
I was mining for about 45 minutes, had a full inventory. I had many things on me, including: a silk touch unbreaking 3 eff 4 pic, a fortune 3 unbreaking 3 eff 4 pic (both of which were diamond), 45 diamonds, one emerald block, 40 gold ore, 4 stacks of unsmelted iron, 2 stacks of coal, 1 stack of lapis lazuli, an infinity 1 book, and other things as well. However, being greedy I figured I would mine until I found one more chunk of diamonds.
Found a ravine, explored it by using water to get rid of the lava. I spotted diamonds, was about to mine them when a ing CAVE SPIDER KNOCKED ME INTO LAVA. I type in the /home command (was on a smp server), but of COURSE i was 2 SECONDS ING LATE AND LOST ALL OF MY STUFF.
I am so ed and devastated I actually might kill myself due to my minecraft addiction.
I've had at least two lava dives since I started on the server I play on a few months ago. One was a legitimate creeper based death (I was on hollow ground and lava was underneath) while the other was plain stupidity of walking off of a nether fortress bridge backwards (didn't want that wither skeleton to fall off now!).
I just suck it up and move on. Now I always carry a potion of fire resistance wherever I go. I have survived future lava baths into the nether since I just eat my potion and swim to the nearest netherrack.

If I lose something REALLY valuable though...
