My biggest fear in minecraft while exploring caves isn't monsters. With iron armor+sword you're nearly invincible.
My biggest problem is getting lost. Most of the time I can't find my way back home (But I do if I have a map).
What is wrong with people there is nothing in minecraft that is scary it is all fictional if you to scared don't play it minecraft, it's not the game for you.
Horror movies are fictional too, you know. As shocking as that may sound.
And he isn't forced to play with mobs on, so I don't see why he can't play.
Seriously, why're people being so rude? It took courage for him to admit he's scared of a video game. Why try and embarrass him?
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
My posts will always have typos and that fact will always drive me crazy.
lol don't delete the ambience folder, it redownloads itself.
Take my advice:
1. Replace the .ogg files with happy sounds (be sure they're in ogg files too!).
2. Download Rei's Minimap (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/482147-147-jan10-reis-minimap-v32-06/) It can detect any nearby mobs.
3. There is no single report of Herobrine being real. It's a creepypasta, they meant to scare you for fun (like Squidward's Suicide, Lavender Town Conspiracy). If you're still scared he's really real, you can always install the Herobrine mod (http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1280854-147-kiterosmas-herobrine-mod-v04/)!
4. Download x-ray mods, they usually have a lit-all-dark-areas feature.
5. Just remember: Nothing will happen!
Hahahaha a person that is a bit like me when I first started playing. Just venture a little bit in each time and wear some armour so you don't die. Place torchers in every dark place you wish to explore.
Don't be jump trust me it makes you crap at fighting and can get you killed. Just relax. If your that scared of mobs then play peaceful.
The noises that come by randomly represent wind or notifying you that you are close to a cavern.
I know it can be scary at first but you get over it after a little bit.
Bring a spamload of torches with you. Hostile mobs cannot spawn in areas with above lighting level 7 (press F3 to view things such as the lighting level.) Equip some armor and bring a sword with you, especially in close combat a sword with the Unbreaking enchantment is your friend. Night vision potions are helpful if you can handle the mobs but don't wanna bring stacks and stacks of torches.
My first single player world I had the same problem. To fix The creepy darkness problem install nodus it is a hack client that gives you full bright so you can see. Herobrine I take him as a joke now. I really want to see him now. He is actually cool. I believe he is real. Mobs hmmm well you got to have the sound on so you can here them. If I mine on multiplayer with a buddy it isn't as creepy.
I second the friend suggestion. I used to be afraid to go into caves so I got someone else to come in with me to run ahead and kill things while I collected ores. After a while I wasn't afraid anymore and started branching off on my own. And then at one point creepers didn't do so much damage as they used to, and from there it was super easy.
I used to have this problem. I was frightened at the thought of mining and having Herobrine pop up behind me. I researched Minecraft a lot before I played it. You'll get used to it. The only REAL worry you have is dying in lava, where you can't get your stuff.
Download and install Single Player Commands into your game, if you did it right say /light and you should get max lighting (you won't need torches and it will be harder for NPCs with the exception of the already-hard-to-detect creepers.)
Think of something that will take your mind off the problems your having with the game, Make sure the room is well lit perhaps a drink and a bite of food in arms reach and a bit of music.
Minecraft is only scary if you let it be that way.
Being scared is a part of the game! I know at least once a day, even worse when I'm wearing headphones, I jump big time. It is fun, I always get a good laugh afterwards and each jump makes for a pretty good story to tell others later. Crazy things happen in this game, that's why it is so great!
Go mining, because you never know what you'll find. Toughen up, and always remember ways in and out of the mine you are in and always try to remember how you got to where you are, just in case you do die. That way you can go back and get your things! Don't be afraid, have fun!
When I first started playing I always used Peaceful. After I got used to all of the quirks and stuff of Minecraft I started using it on Easy and Normal. Maybe this will work for you...
1.Random Ambience(many of you guys tell me to mute the sound but i dont like playing the game muted)
2.Random mobs jumping from nowhere or from the darkness and creeping behind you.(especially creepers).
3.Herobrine ( i know he isnt real but im getting goosebumps when i mining underground or mining in my mine if im getting scared i go to third-person view to watch my back and that really makes me uncomfortable).
4.Darkness
5.looking back sometimes(it creeps me out).
well those are my reasons so plz help me out cuz i really like playing minecraft but those reasons well.... i cant play minecraft ( well i can still play but its missing the mine so it will be only craft.)
1. Ambience can't be controlled, but you can go into the .jar and remove the .oog files for ambience.
2. Mobs you cant control unless on peaceful or using mods...
3. Dont go into third person...
4. The brightness setting can be changed, and computer screen brightness can be raised.
5. Again, dont go into third person...
Herobrine isn't real; I never discovered him until Beta 1.4._01 (what I mean by that is I never knew people were saying that there was some scary mob in the game called Herobrine, but obviously it's fake). Some guy probably was jealous of how Minecraft was so popular than the game he plays. Anyways, it really helps to have some people around you because it just takes the feeling away of being scared. Face your fears and you'll conquer them.
I cant imagine how are you going to deal with the Nether if you are scared of mining.
Anyway, here are some tips: Firstly, keep your backside safe by lighting up the area behind you in order for mobs not to spawn behind you. Secondly, keep your best sword, bow and torches within your comfortable reach in the hotbar. And lastly, ignore the ghostly sounds when mining and remind yourself that it is Mojang's way of scaring players. As a last resort, turn to peaceful mode. And one more thing:
HEROBRINE IS FAKE, WHY DO PEOPLE STILL BELIEVE IT?!
To be hoenst I find this sad. But if you really wanna man up, play a few hardcore worlds (without a bed) then youll see theres nothing to be scared of. And you'll be mowing down mobs like a bullet through melted butter.
My biggest problem is getting lost. Most of the time I can't find my way back home (But I do if I have a map).
2. Sword/Bow
3. I am Herobrine, and I am busy elsewhere.
4. Torches.
5. Look forward.

Now:
Come and get it zombie! >=D
