I am considering building the Iron Titan on my SMP. The only problem is that we doors have already been placed in spawn. I was wondering if we could build the Titan in the air (We are on an amplified world) and have it still work. In Tango's video, he said it only had to be 70 blocks from other doors. Thanks in advance!
Yes, Y axis counts, and it's only 66 blocks to keep villages separate (technically 65, but use 66 to be sure).
A village has a minimum radius of 32 blocks, or the distance to the furthest door, whichever is greater. So in a typical iron farm with small mock villages each village will extend 32 blocks from the center of the doors. So if you separate villages by (32+1)x2=66 blocks you should be okay for iron farms built in always loaded spawn chunks.
My iron farm, which has been running since version 1.8 has villages separated by 66 block horizontally and 70 vertically.
It was originally an iron + gold farm:
But have since replaced the pigman spawner with a creeper spawner for gunpowder:
It's no Iron Titan, but it doesn't break, ever, and I get a good amount of iron, and loads of gunpowder.
