So while recording my recent Let's Play, I jump off a block to land on some grass one block below, and I take fall damage. Granted it's like half a heart, but it's kinda bull.
Has anyone experienced this or is it just me and my awkward traveling ways?

I used to have an open mind, but then my brain fell out.
Same thing was happening to me repeatedly. Not with the snapshot, and no armor on. It's only happened to me on multiplayer though. I'll be standing on a block, jump, and go down one block. So 2 blocks of fall. Take damage. Probably some bug with multiplayer. May have something to do with adjacent blocks being lower.

I've always been playing single player.

Yeah, I've been experiencing this too. I'd jump off one block, take 1/2 heart of damage, and do it several times - same with 2-3 block jumps. After jumping off the same place more than three times the fall damage just...stops happening.
And the fall damage system is really glitchy too. I'd jump off falls with my protection III armor and land with 4-5 hearts, but now, I die. With really high jumps, it seems as if fall damage is doubled.
BTW, I've been playing playing 12w34a and b; the glitch (or new feature?) happens on both.
Protection spells do not protect from fall damage, neither does the armour itself. That's normal.
Featherflight spells on shoes protect/lower fall damage.

"Really though, it shows the mindset of a Dwarf Fortress player that when running for you life from a 30-foot tall animate bronze colossus, your first reaction to a horde of fluffy bunnies is to grab some and throw them at it." - DF player
This is a weird glitch since it happens to me and my friend on a multiplayer server we have. When i fall down a 4-6 block drop i don't take even a shudder of damage while my friend when he falls one block he dies automatically. Other people on the server have also said that when they use enderpearls they actually die when they land after using it even though they have full hp.
It actually does protect from fall damage and i feel this should be fixed, since it should not protect against fall damage. I fell down a cliff once and was left with 1.5 hearts (with no armor) when my friend fell down the same cliff with protection 3 he was left with 7 full hearts.
I could have sworn that fall damage was once not included into armour?
Because as stated... that's just weird...

It could be something with the snapshot, though, as MrMan said.
I am ninja'd far too often.
