You seem to have forgotten lightstone.
I dont mine cobble, but it fails for buildings and looks funny, brick is ugly as well..
Oh and obsidian unless people are using it for pixel art, but we have black wool now so...
Glass by a long shot- other than that, I have no issues with the default texture pack... except I guess diamond blocks, they look pretty bad actually, but they aren't an option.
I can never under stand this.. What's with all the hate for cobblestone? Is there a specific reason people believe it looks unappealing in construction on Minecraft?
If anything, I'd change half steps to use the same texture type as cobblestone in order to give it more realism.. seeing as it's created using cobblestone and people can obviously survive falling 125 meters as long as there are 2 meters of water directly below them, and seeing as the world actually holds a bottomless pit below it bringing nothing but death to its victims.[/trollsmile]

The cobblestone has a higher contrast relative to most other blocks. It's also quite noisy.
Netherrack. I can't stand going into the Nether because of it. I get sick of seeing it real fast in there. I'd get sick of seeing any block covering that much area though. The Nether seriously needs some variety. At the very least, the other blocks (gravel, soul sand, glowstone) need to be spawned in more or something.
Imagine if caves were completely smooth stone, or dirt. You'd get just as sick there, for the same reasons. Sure, most caves are mostly smooth stone and dirt. But there's variety. A heck of a lot more than the Nether. Ick.

And I think a whole lot of that stems from the Nether missing a lot of content currently. We'll see once it's fleshed out more.
Cobblestone is fine as it is if you are building a castle. But the problem with texture packs is that if you use them, your creations may look amazing to you but a piece of crap to someone else because they are using default. For example, the cobblestone fix. People made it look better, but it will still look terrible to other people. Personally I think gravel looks the worst, you can't even make a house with it.
I think the lapis how ever you spell it block could be improved, and I'm probably one of those people who likes the look of cobblestone. I don't like using texture packs since one thing is improved, and another is messed up.

I said glass, even though I think cobblestone looks pretty bad in the default texture pack. I picked it mainly because you can't see through it very well.

Cobble is reasonable but still needs improvements.
EDIT: Glass is decent too, only without those lines.

Can't stand cobble though. Can't stand ya. CANSTANJA! Costanza! Seinfeld reference, anyone?

It's a hard choice between gravel and cobblestone though. Cobble has potential, just the original is just meh.
Sandstone is actually pretty cool in my opinion - it's textured like a real abode bricks, and a trippy smooth top.
I voted glass because you can't see out of it, but overall, cobble is HODWAJERAU?&$UWY26Q

Clay looks too much like smoothstone, and adminium just ... looks like a 1930's prison uniform.
