I am trying to create sticky pistons, however I'm struggling to get the slime. Earlier in my Minecraft world, I encountered a slime in a cave then marked the location with a sign. Also, after finding instructions online that said to go to some website, I confirmed that the chunck I was on was able to spawn slimes. Next, I created a 16x16x4 room over the chunck and lit it up. Lastly, I went 24+ blocks away and turned the difficulty on easy. What could possibly be wrong? Also, I forgot to mention, this is about 10 blocks above bedrock. I would add a screenshot but I do not know how to access my pictures and place one in this post.
Torches on the ground will interfere with slime spawning. Use jack o laterns/glowstone etc.
Consider adding extra layers.
Also slimes spawn rarer than other mobs. You may just have to wait a little longer.

Heres your problem. you need a FOUR block high room for the big bad slimes to be able to jump AT you so you can kill The big ones easier. Big ones give the most slimeballs, as because 4 big slimes will turn into 16 mediums, with 64 tinies (I think) Which is a lot.
OR with TMI you can spawn in some slime spawn cages and place them.
NOTE: Make sure ALL nearby caves are lit up, Because Slimes and hostile mobs "Interfere" with eachother, Meaning that if a chunk has hostile mobs NEARBY, The slimes can't spawn.
Wiki: Slime spawning (due to it's unique spawning style) can interfere with other mob spawning.
And as the wiki says....
Slimes spawn only 1/10th as often as other hostile mobs, so they can be hard to find. Slimes can spawn in any light level and lighting does not affect their spawn rate. However, lighting up the surrounding area does decrease the chances of non-slime mobs spawning and thus indirectly increases slime spawning rates.

I did make the ceiling 4 high right after I posted the initial topic then I edited my post. About lighting up the surrounding area, how far do you mean? Am I going to have to tear up the ground to find some tricky little cave 15 blocks above me?

Now I am gonna show you a... (Drum roll!)
VIDEO guide on finding slimes!
Muahahaha.

It's a brilliant tool that shows you the coordinates of slime chunks. Of course they only spawn below 40 blocks so you'll have to do some digging.
Here's a part of my current slime farm
