I am sure you already know that it's really annoyingly time-consuming and boring to collect ender pearls.
On a given night I never see an enderman wandering around outside, and this is in a wide open desert biome. When I do see one and kill it...... oh, no pearl this time either.
Oh hey, well we finally got one or two pearls, and found a nether fortress with blazes So let's go find the portal.
Ooops, that eye of ender disappeared when you used it. That one too. Too bad. Time to wait through another 20 or so nights to get a few more pearls.
Is it supposed to take you literally months of real time, to find enough pearls to reach The End?
This game is "fun" in how the learning curve is basically straight up, and probably logarithmic too at the same time.

Like all other mobs, there is a way. I personally have not tried it, but it can be done. Just don't look at them, or the will teleport out of your mob grinder/trap thing and murder you O_O.

It seems you do need to be in the 'End' however for this to work. (Not sure on this, it probably would work above ground...just may not be as efficient; as it would spawn other mobs.)

Looting sword and a few nights in the desert, problem solved.

This is the only one I've ever seen that's been designed to work in the overworld.... However, it requires a lot of resources.
In the overworld, I don't think it would be practical to farm enderpearls. What I do is just find a large desert/plains biome, and camp out for a few nights. I can usually get enough ender pearls to reach the end in 3 nights. It's worked well for me on all of my worlds.
Make a 3x3 square of whatever block of your choice, and stay under it when you anger an enderman. It will run at you and try to attack but you will be safe and sound

The video is interesting, but also a problem in itself, because he's using a ton of sticky pistons. Which means I gotta find or farm slimes too before I can farm endermen. It never ends.

Find a slime chunk, get a looting sword, and go wild. I got about 5 stacks of slimeballs just clearing out the floor of my slime farm, but that was with a high level looting sword.
On my latest map, I have about 13 pearls. I only got them from seeing any random enderman I saw while doing other things (spelunking, building, ect.). It's not really that hard if you build up to get them from the start. Just don't go sleep during the night every time and do some stuff in the night. Save stuff, that is. Look outside every now and then for endermen. They should be in plain sight.
I'm currently playing Skyblock 2.0 and I made a mob farm up 25 levels with water canals to drop the mobs. The spawning area is three blocks high, so Endermen do spawn. When they touch the water, they teleport out of the spawning room and end up on the bridge that leads from my island to the mob farm, or sometimes on my main "living area" island. There can be 5 or 6 of them on the bridge every night, but there are no other mobs because it's lit up. I just wear a pumpkin head and walk up and start wailing on them with a sword. I was able to collect 12 enderpearls in about three nights that way. There is a risk that they will kill you, so I only carry a sword when I'm off to kill me some Endermans!
Ive had a weird bug, not sure if it was server side or if it was cause of minecraft, but i was building a xp grinder out of a skeleton spawner and as soon as i was finished i sat there for a minute and started hearing endermen noises instead of skeleton noises and i started thinking wtf? i opened the wall up a bit and some how my skeleton spawner had turned into a endermen spawner s: dont know how but atleast i was able to farm pearls

Hmm yea they are pesky little buggers but you'd be better off building a like 5x5x3 room and just letting them spawn in it and killing them, also if you dont feel like lighting the roof of the spawners up you can always put cobblestone slabs as the roof, mobs cant spawn on it

Yeah, I might try that. I just hate that other stuff will spawn in that room too. My luck I'd get blown up by a creeper every time I try to get some Endermen. Thanks for the tip about the slabs on the roof. I recently read that and I'm going to give it a try.
If you are lucky enough to get looting swords, and NOT use them on spiders like I always do. (Fishing is fun :] ) Then you can hunt Endermen with them, They make the drops happen ALOT more, Try Desert, PLains, or Forrest Beaches, Thats where I see them alot.

Click it or it will die...A cold painful death.

The only set back is to find an enderman...

I think that he is trying to farm endermen to get to the end, so this wont work. Their traps are in the end.

Endermen, they watch you watch them.....
