When I think of WoW and Minecraft, I also think of as many ways to say "No" as possible. But the only exception to this is Ironforge. I think it would be cool if someone rebuilt the pre-cata Ironforge in MC.
TB would be easy, only thing hard would be to make working elevators that didn;t have water in 'em.
Only thing I can see wrong with the whole idea in general is for some of the areas you'd have to build the world in triple size so you could have at least recognizable detail.
I like this idea, mostly because Blizzard has crafted some of the coolest locales in video games for the Warcraft universe. Places like the Dalaran Crater and Icecrown Citadel come to mind first when thinking about building this kind of thing, and I would support this kind of thing wholeheartedly, even if I couldn't reproduce stuff worth crap. Icecrown Citadel Dalaran Crater
Oh, and to the WoW haters:
If you don't like the idea of one of the most successful MMOs on the planet being recreated (in image only) in Minecraft, then think of it this way: They're Warcraft areas. Imagine all references to "WoW" areas as Warcraft III areas instead. If that doesn't work, I can't help you.

If you're new here, you aren't allowed to have an opinion. Or get on mah level. 'K? 'K.

I know Craftbook can do elevators, but it's a server mod. I'd love to see this done on a server... but it'd be really challenging. Looks like it would be one of the easier ideas. New Orgrimmar would be hawt, but to bonafide-ly dig up all that iron... would be a pain the bee-hind, and a glorious achievement in the end.
As for people who are like "what why no, minecraft is SANDBOX rawr", it IS a sandbox. Can you imagine running around on a SMP server and be like "OMGWTFBBQ there's a creeper in the middle of Thunderbluff!"? It's like gettin' angry at people who make their own dungeons. Finding them are half the battle. :sad.gif:
As for me, I'll be sticking to my Borg Cube. Can't wait to finish it and load it up into the Tron textures. <3
You show very little knowledge of WoW, and of this topic.
1. In WoW, the max level is 85.
2. He never wanted the game to be like WoW, he wanted us to help us build structures from the game.
3. Conversations are never like that in WoW.
First off my friend, the older veterans of WoW such as myself that played during launch only believe in the true game from 1 to 60 should be counted, not this horrible mess of 60-85 with these lame expansions.
2. I agree with you here, if the guy wants to build the structures he can go ahead, Minecraft is about building whatever you please, with only your imagination as the limit.
3. Yes, yes they are. How long have you been playing WoW?
So in the end, OP build whatever you want, but don't expect a support. I wish you luck though, and please do build Stormwind. I no longer play anymore, but that's just one place that I'd kill to be able to see again, and it seems rather easy as it's a bit "blocky" with the way it was built with stone and such.
This should not be done because WoW is one of the most worst and easiest Pay to Play MMORPGs out there, and so it is a disgrace, making Minecraft it a disgrace if there were to be a SMP server. Thank you. Sincerely, Your favourite #1 WoW Hater.
P.S.
Okay, but serious talk now, WoW in Minecraft? Sure, you can make some D&D, some Starcraft, but just not WoW, WoW is literally the mascot for garbage games. And if you're wondering, no I've never actually played it, I played it for a day to see how I liked it, it was horrible and WAY too easy, got to about level 30 in half a day, so I don't hate it because I supposedly to you suck at it, I liked the Singleplayer World Warcraft games, those were actually good. WoW has immense Grinding, a HORRIBLE community, and the graphics don't really appeal to me. Sincerely again, Your favourite #1 WoW Hater.
EDIT:-Ahem- I forgot to add my ending sentence. 'So I believe that WoW should NOT be in Minecraft because 1. The areas would be too hard to make. 2. I just plain don't like it and it'd remind me of it's horrible-ness. & 3.The graphics from minecraft wouldn't even fit for the expectations of WoW Graphics...no offense Notch.
Runescape is obviously better than wow, why not build Runescape in Minecraft?
You are obviously wrong.
Gameplay, graphics, players, replay value are all WAY lower than WoW.
WoW is addicting because its GOOD
What a biased comment.
It's not always about GRAPHICS, take Minecraft for example.
I agree, Minecraft is GOOD because you can build ANYTHING. Runescape is -Little barf- 'GOOD' because people like to do repeatable things just to get their skills up and feel all mighty.

What a brilliant example (I'm serious, too; not being a douche)
Besides, the effect of graphics, gameplay, and number of players has on anyone is subjective. As is replay value. Replay value depends on the person, not necessarily on the game.
I hate when people bring biases into a discussion =D
I'm really interested to see how this project goes along; I don't really like WoW anymore, but it does have beautiful landscapes :tongue.gif:

Come on guys, we're getting off-topic, this is a thread about kicking men in the testicles.

You'll be surprised by how few people actually put a bathroom in their house. Where else would you ****? Where else?
What do some of you people not understand about the OP wanting to build zones from World of Warcraft? He doesn't want to make Minecraft into WoW at all, and he's not saying you should like it or play it. Absolutely no one cares if you think it's too easy or a horrible game, that has literally nothing to do with this thread.
Anyway, is there any update from the OP about building something, like a server to do it on? I'm still interested.

This is when I thought I should step in. First off, if you hit 30 in 12 hours, you were playing 12 hours straight. That can ruin ANY game. And Unless you have played the new Cataclysm Expansion at level 85, you are wrong, as the game went back to being difficult. Level 30 is not high at all, and you need to hit the level cap to enjoy the game. Call it easy, but dodging 30 landmines every few seconds and avoiding huge bursts on your screen while keeping up doing damage in the needed order of attacks IS hard. And the community is server based, as well as faction based. Please do not judge games from playing through a small part of it, and lying about what and how you played it.
Cause I dont want minecraft conversations to start like this:
Drago56465: Hey man you wanna go explore the deep caves in the land of falcor and kill some hoblins
Me: The hell are you talking about.
Minecraft is a sandbox game about building. Not grinding to get to lvl 60. Im all up for a quest mode in single player but no WoW crap. And if you WoW fans want Minecraft to be more like WoW mod it. You can mod trees, land, texturepacks, mobs and recolor the freaking clouds if you want.

Any of ya anti-Warcraftians remember the World Editor from Warcraft III? Ya, the one that allowed you to do basically ANYTHING ya wanted to the game, even to the point of completely re-writing it? I sure do, and before Minecraft was around, that was my sandbox game! Heck, I even bent the game to the point were I could re-create games like Chest and Rogue on the game's engine, yet nobody complained about them "being different games on Warcraft!" In fact, they praised the fact I could do such things, grabbed a mouse, and played! Even if such things are not possible in World of Warcraft, at least remember that at one point, Warcraft's spirit was at one point not so different from a Sandbox!
So, rather then attempting to shoot down WoW (before Runescape, even), perhaps you should just ignore some people trying to pay tribute by building a few areas there. Besides, it's not like anyone came with torches and pitchforks when some lad recreated Lon Lon Ranch from TLoZ OOT.

Blackrock Depths would be one of the coolest (and hardest) places to build.
Plenty of Lava...
A Fight arena...
Big gates...
And loads of other stuff...even has a bar!
