With TreeCapitator, I can chop down a whole tree by cutting a single block from its trunk using an axe, so dark oak trees are an easy source of plentiful wood.
Of course, taiga biomes have spruce trees and big spruce trees are an even better source of large amounts of wood, but dark oak trees also yield the occasional apple.

The source of my intention isn't really crime prevention; my intention is prevention of the lie! Yeah, welcome to the Scatman's world!
Can't help but notice Jungle doesn't get much love. :c I find it to be my favorite. I just wish there was more mobs in the game to populate them though.

I'm guessing most don't like jungles because it either lags (completely unplayable for me on 1.8, even more so in the 1.9 snapshots), though 1.6.4 doesn't lag) and/or is hard to navigate through (this was worse in 1.6.4 due to how Jungle Hills generated; unlike other hills, which can be as flat as the surrounding area, they are forced up to near Extreme Hills elevations, plus small pond-like river biomes are also generated in jungles, resulting in steep hills and valleys). Due to the latter I find them to be the most annoying biome, although they do have the best source of wood in the game (2x2 spruce trees are better in 1.7+; no branches); all of my bases are marked by at least one big jungle tree, which I use as a source of torch wood (I use oak wood for building).
As for my favorite biome, I've always preferred spawning in a plains biome since it is usually flat and a good place to build my main base; this is likely also influenced by the fact that my first world has a plains spawn (if somewhat less than ideal; there's a large shallow lake, which needs to be filled in, with a village in it, in later worlds I prefer not to spawn next to a village even if they can provide free food and loot like armor and diamonds, which are easy to get anyway). Also, while they are annoying for navigation jungles are the best looking biome due to the trees, hilly terrain, and color.

I love AND ABSOLUTELY love the base, when someone clears some ground on a jungle in front of a jungle hill from all those bushes and trunks, and just has chests and open redstone visible... That is the best... But for me I am getting like 10 fps in there with rapidly lowered options so... not enough for me.
I like plains with a bit of forested hills mixed in. Mountains nice to have nearby for scenic view, but navigating/building in the mountains is a pain.
I voted jungle; just found one for my first time in the Vita edition. It's kind of annoying because of all the vines, I know, but it's so beautiful. Plus there are cats everywhere, so... :3
My favorite is the End.Its useless other than killing the dragon and farming endermen but I like it since end stone is sooooo pretty and I need the dragon egg for my dragon mounts mod. Also Elytra(is that how you spell it) are really cool and matching with the end plus it's cool to live there
I've always been fond of Mesas. Not only does it look nice, but it has its benefits. The clay is very blast resistant, and won't be destroyed too much in case of creepers. It also works well as a building material, so you don't have to go far to get building materials. However, it doesn't have any trees, so you might have to go into another biome to find some wood.

I like plains, because I usually like to build big houses and expand them with farms, pools, and more random structures, so I don't really like forests.
While maybe not the best place to start in, I prefer mesa over the other biomes (although I may not have said the same back when I was struggling for resources!). Prior to finding one, I obtained all of my clay through swamps, which was incredibly time-consuming because then you had to smelt stacks of blocks at a time. But not only does a mesa solve this problem (as someone who loves to build with clay, this was like diamonds to me), it also looks beautiful! I mean, seeing cave entrances built out of clay blocks? And seeing the first parts of some caves completely solid with clay? Oh, and the beautiful red sand? It's like candyland!

LP series? Not my style! Video series? Closer, but not quite. Survival journal, maybe? That's better. Now in Season 4 of the Legends of Quintropolis Journal (<< click to view)!! World download and more can be found there.
It's called Roofed Forest.
It's also the worst biomePersonally, I like roofed forests.

Figured it was time for a change.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

You can just call me Canary.
How not to look like a total fool in the forum games
Any biome besides jungle.

I really like the Ice Spikes and Birch Forest!
Forest for sure, they're my absolute favourite place to settle in, especially if there's a beach nearby.
