I know what you're thinking- "But VolcanoBomber458, why would I need dirt?" If you play Skyblock you'd know that dirt is very rare. Farming, animal spawning, land in general, it really helps. If you have access to at least 2 dirt, a hoe and the Nether, congrats. Infinite dirt.
The science behind it- basically there is a block called Coarse Dirt. With 2 dirt and 2 gravel in opposite corners, you make 4. And guess what it becomes if you hoe it? Dirt. The Nether contains large quantities of gravel so you have plenty of gravel available.
Just make sure your shovel doesn't have Fortune
I hope this tip was more helpful than my tip about jack-o-lanterns.
It works with custom skyblock(made by somebody for his fun) or with reseted nether in skyblock(wich some may say is cheating).
By definition skyblock has no terrain, you're in the sky. If you're using a custom "skyblock" or resetting the nether, you aren't actually playing skyblock, you're playing "skyslab". You know, since you're only playing in the overworld sky, you're playing with half the block! *BA DUM TISH*

This forum has made me decide that I now want kids, so that when they get old enough, I can forbid them from coming here. it's a terrible place.

Nice tip there. In skyblock, dirt is really scarce, and especially if there's no shop, you have to literally dig up your whole island just to have enough dirt to do things you want to.

Same with the fricken overworld. Travel far enough out and you'll find dirt.
You are impossible. I first did this trick on my Alchemy Survival world where the Overworld is literally a freaking void. It helped me get dirt to let mobs spawn on so I shared it.

If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.
You are impossible. I first did this trick on my Alchemy Survival world where the Overworld is literally a freaking void. It helped me get dirt to let mobs spawn on so I shared it.
Hey, I use it a lot more than some people would. Unlike some people, I appreciate dirt.
Okay Volcano, in about 99% of skyblocks you'll find on the internet the nether is actually a void too!!! And trust me, I've played and beaten skyblock over 50 times in the past year or so. I know to appreciate dirt.

...That actually is really useful, good job.
I swear I was expecting "hur dur get a shovel and dig!!!!" or something like that.
"Love as a principle and order as the basis; progress as the goal"
I would have laughed so hard is thats is all that it said lol I have seen posts like that before lol
in that case no infinite gravel means no infinite dirt. it's still limited.
Miner's nightmare preset
Miner's nightmare preset (original terrain)
Killing the Ender Dragon, no damage (no armor/potions/enchantments/pumpkin)
but the nether should be infinite so it is infinite gravel.
I'm almost completely inactive, in case you're trawling through really old threads and notice me somewhere.
But... you know... nether sky block. There's nothing there.
oh yeah I don't really do skyblock to often.
I'm almost completely inactive, in case you're trawling through really old threads and notice me somewhere.
It's as infinite as the overworld... Gravel is also far less abundant in the nether than dirt in the overworld, so isn't dirt already "infinite"?
This thread should probably be renamed from "Infinite Dirt!" to "Convert 2 gravel to dirt!".
Sorry, but there's nothing infinite about this. It's not a cobblestone generator, which actually creates infinite cobblestone with lava and water.
The BEST way to mine diamond, layer 12 and you.
but this is for skyblock.

But like I already said, it doesn't work with sky block.
