I feel like the opposite side of the spectrum. I was really disappointed when lanterns weren't added since I wanted more difficulty, and I feel the same about endermen being nerfed and critcal hits being so simple to use, though silverfish and hunger make up for it. I wanted an exciting and challenging Minecraft, and the new realeases have given me that. I can't wait until the full release so that the new content will be in the real game.
To everyone who complains about the game, you can be perfectly content mining on peaceful, so you don't have to deal with hunger or the new mobs. You don't need to go the Nether or the End. You can sit at your home with nothing to do, since all of the updates are optional, besides hunger. You can avoid caves and never go outside at night and never deal with endermen. That is all.

I agree, I don't personally understand how people can complain about all of these awesome updates. This game is not an rpg at all, however it is more of an rpg than terraria. (You don't even get levels in that)
You know what would stop all of this rage over a simple update? Make an original Mode. This game mode can be everything from 1.7 and lower! Then people can't complain as much.
Jk, Jk.
But, Infdev was THE original version of MC. It was before beta, and way the hell before alpha. It was kinda like Creative mode, but with nowhere near as many items, etc etc.
BTW: No offense about the "newfag" comment. But... in MC history, you are kinda new
Its nostalgic people like you that have been complaining. The game wasn't very fun or groundbreaking back then.

No thread on Minecraft's progress could have been complete without this type of attention-seeking trolly comment. Thanks so much for your contribution to the discussion.
To me, some of the content we're seeing in the PR could have been left out of the initial release, and then made available as a DLC expansion. As much as I'd like to see snow golems, Red dragons, etc. make it under the wire, it seems like the ideas could use fleshing out and enriching. The problem with that is, for those Beta account holders, anything past the initial release = $$$.
Notch is sort of stuck fulfilling the promise of the Enderdragon as a "final boss" for the final release. He could have deferred development of bosses until after the release, but I think (and many players probably agree) he needed an immediate and pretty well spelled-out reason to introduce potions and enchantments, which the boss provides.
Definitely the enchantments, potions, animal husbandry, basic biome/terrain code, and basic NPC behaviour should take priority at crunch time. All other realms, dimensions, and goals in Minecraft can be seen to depend on these foundations. Right now there's all sorts of open design space for very basic things - combat, xp balancing, NPCs - and what Mojang does with these upon release will determine the success of later expansions.
I sort of hope these will be rounded out in the remaining 14 days.

He was just saying that he always wanted the game to be more difficult in the newer releases but he never got it. (I think the game should be harder but I do agree that more attention should be put into the AI than anything else)
Well I've played since 1.3 beta so I'm not a vet. like the alpha players but yes i think it has the RPG feeling to it but I've learned to love it more then hate!
I have played since... 1.7 :biggrin.gif:
But I agree, I have watched Yogscast's videos etc. a looong time. Minecraft is just awesomening more.(Is that even a word? :tongue.gif:)
It's only a word when you're talking about Minecraft. And yes, it is awesoming more with every update.
People also don't seem to realize that they don't even need to use these 'RPG' elements if they don't want to.
Don't want to use enchantments? Don't enchant anything.
Don't want potions? Don't make them.
I agree with you.
I agree.
Every element that existed from the beginning has remained largely untouched. Gamers can still make their epic creations and explore to their heart's content. Adding RPG elements simply expands the potential of the game and in turn, adds more players.
Seriously, you people asked, nay, BEGGED him for this stuff then complained when he released it? Give me a ****ing break. This would be typical of a short-term-memory-loss parrot with multiple personalities syndrome.

I joined Minecraft less than a month after the very first version. I remember long ago I used to be against certain updates. I even recall being against infinite worlds, saying it would change Minecraft too much. Now, I don't know what I would do without infinite worlds. Trust me, Notch knows what he's doing, and I support his updates 100%.
For some reason, in mc, i can't settle down and make a house and stuff, I always end up in a ravine or something. I just can't, biomes are to organized I do miss when there were just... the random stuff tbh.
I've only been around since Alpha 1.1.2 and I completely agree.

Umm... We are all Infdev players. Alpha and Beta is Infdev.
I agree.

There used to be a stage of development called "infdev" before alpha and after indev.

Oh. I did not realize that.
No, RPG means Rocket Propelled Grenade :biggrin.gif:
