<sigh> Thou seriously aren't proficient at using Olde Englishe.
Thou is you, Thee is also you, but when addressing someone.. as in: You need to do this! Thou is like: Thou shalt not fail.
Still, nice challenge! But a lot like city construction (except colonies.) Make your you finish your thread first (on microsoft word or notepad) THEN post.
Else state WIP.
Yeah, agree. Always good to post pics with any challenge, lets see em!
----you see, if you were making a challenge that was supposed to take a long time and be difficult, you shouldn't test every single mode. I mean, I already created a small colony in mine, (the one that you commented on) and it wasn't TOO difficult. All that I was asking for was possible, but it was difficult. In this case, I didn't test mine all the way through, because I knew it would be a HELLA work. So I just tried everything individually to make sure it worked, and it did.----
Ah, see. I don't mean play your whole challenge 20 times. Just try it out and see if its fun. This one admittedly looks pretty cool, but I have seen a ton on here that are just blah, and its usually because someone didn't try at least part of it themselves.
Yep.. I already tested mine. That's where my screen shots came from :DDD Go check them out. It was fun while i was doing it. This one isn't "Blah" I'm hoping, I just think it's quite interesting. You should try it out :3
This looks like a great challenge. I like the concept, and it seems like it could be really fun. However, like Zide (I think?) said, It's alot like the City Construction challenge (Which is also great). Perhaps you could add some more distinctions to make it more.... purposeful?
Here's an example of what I mean. Your colonies could specialize in certain industries, like wood and wood products (Chests, fence, etc). You could also have a mining town, and a farming town, but they'd have to be separate or whatever. Then your hometown could expand and have those big projects you mentioned (Like the mob farm), but you would have to use supplies gathered from your specialized colonies to expand your town? The better your hometown is, the better you did? This is just an example. You've probably got better ideas than that one, but you can see what I mean (I hope?).
Of course, as it is, it's already a great challenge that will keep us busy. These are just friendly suggestions. Kudos to you for coming up with this!

Wow, man, thanks !! I will gladly put in those challenges, but in separate modes. Is that fine? I'm going to make it in Hard mode, which they have to make 4 colonies. A Wood Producing colony, a mining colony, a farming town, and the separation has to be at least 100 blocks. Sounds fair :smile.gif: Also, I'm gonna add a few challenges along the way for hard mode.
I was hoping this would be a tiny bit similar to The City Construction challenge but I didn't want to copy it exactly. I added many little twists and changes to it, such as not making a huge ass kingdom, but instead making multiple small towns. I was planning this to be like when the Europeans came to the New World, and they were first looking for materials and stuff. Then they figured they had to start a colony.
Anyways, thanks for the feed back, it helped A LOT! Also, thanks for the support, might I ask if you are trying it? :smile.gif:
Hello, everyone. What I have here is what the OP should have looked like.
THE NEW WORLD
News and updates :
[v1.5 - Added Easy Mode
v1 - RELEASE]
CURRENT VERSION : v1.5
Background : Okay, so at school today, we were talking about the New World. I thought, hey, that's a very interesting idea!! I wanted to do something similar in Minecraft, ignoring the part that they had supplies. And there you have it, "The New World" challenge.
Goals for Each one:
Establish 3 Colonies
More to be added
TO DO LIST :
Hard Mode - 4 colonies with different productions. One with wood making industry, a food production industry, a mining site, and a farming industry. What I mean by industry is that they specialize in producing their certain material and nothing else. The colonies would have to be at least 100 blocks apart connecting with an underground railroad station to each town.
Story : Your family is very poor, but they had just enough money to send you to the New World. They are hoping that you will be very successful in your life at The New World and they want you to send them some gold and tobacco since they are worth a lot of money. When you get to the New World, someone assassinates both of your parents. You are left alone, with your crew who are dying of sickness, in the New World. You decide to build a multiple colonies and make yourself and the survivors the rulers of them.
Rules :
The houses and buildings must look nice (personal preference)
Play on a difficulty level according to the mode that you are playing
You must have a sword with yourself at all times, regardless of the mode you are playing on
You must have the certain requirements that will decide if a village is a village or not
You shall not use any illegal modifications, such as fly mod, x-ray texture pack or mod, God modes, or anything else that will be deemed illegal
Post your worlds and screenshots on this forum post after you are done with this challenge
If you want, you can do a Let's Play of this if you are into video making :smile.gif: (every video will be posted here)
More to be added
Sorry for the super long wait, now to the challenge. Here are the levels, guidelines, stages, requirements, and extra added rules to each one.
EASY MODE
Basic Guidelines
Your job in Easy Mode is to create 2 colonies and connect them above ground using gravel paths. There are multiple steps to Easy Mode, you have to follow them step by step. If you do not want to follow any step exactly, feel free to change it so it is a little easier for you, while still being fun.
If you are going to play with multiple people (recommended), you will have slightly altered and added jobs. When something is altered, I will tell you.
Additional rules for Easy Mode :
Always keep on easy or higher
You can change to peaceful when building things
Your mines must be 3x3, but does not need any support beams.
When in Ravines, turn on Easy mode.
Aight, here are the steps!
Step One : Doing the Basics
THIS MUST BE DONE BY THE FIRST NIGHT. First, you need to start getting wood. After you have a decent amount, you must start on your mine. Get some cobble stone and then proceed to the next paragraph.
Alright, so now you have to build the basic building(s). You may use peaceful mode here. The first building you must build, is your own house!! It must have a front door, a bedroom, a living room, and a basement. This will only be a basic house. NO DIRT HOUSES. Must be wood or any type of stone. (You do not need a bed, you just need a bed room)
If there are multiple people, you must have 2 houses with the requirements up above or 1 house with 2 bedrooms and all else remains the same. You only need one sugar cane farm in your neighborhood.
Once you have finished this, proceed onto the next step.
Step Two : Collecting Some Basics
You've came to the New World in search of riches. Fulfill your dreams and find 20 pieces of gold. Find a stack of iron and half a stack of coal. If you are on multiplayer, your findings are added together. Once you have finished this step, proceed to the next.
Step Three : Jamestown
Now comes the town which you start establishing buildings. During this step, you have to establish :
A small church, around a 10x10 area. Make sure it has some crosses in it (or whatever religion. Something to resemble a church)
A restaurant, around a 10x10 area as well.
A Sugar Cane Farm
Small Library, must use at least 30 books.
Once you have built all of these, proceed to the next step.
Step Four : Cleaning Things Up 'Round Here
Okay, this step is quite easy. Just connect all of the houses with walkways, using gravel or stacked double slabs of stone. If heights of the colony is changing a lot, use stairs to ascend or descend. If the colony's height is staying mostly the same, but some changes in elevation here and there, use one half slab. Add fences around the town with a proper entrance and exit. Beautify everything that you have, and remodel if necessary. (HINT : Use signs to direct people to places and objects.)
Step Five : Don't be a Roanoke!
You must turn on Easy or higher for the rest of the challenge. You must ensure the survival of Jamestown, or you will end up like Roanoke. (In case you don't know what Roanoke is, look it up on Google. "The Lost Colony Of Roanoke")
You and your people mustn't perish!! Here are some things you can build to help ensure the survival of this colony :
A Mob trap - This mob trap MUST have decent drop rates. You must have an animal farm and a hostile mob trap. This way, you can have food while being able to get items from hostiles. In the animal mob trap, an additional thing you can add is a chicken filter, so you don't have to do the next build. For reference, watch video (all credits go to TheMinecraftMuse on youtube for that video). (The chicken filter is part of his third type of egg farm)
An egg farm - This can be built, like I said in the last paragraph, with the passive mob trap, but it doesn't have to be. And egg farm isn't too complicated, you just need it to be automatic. One rule, DO NOT MAKE AFK EGG FARMS. (Shown in the previous video up there)
A Farm of every kind - You just need a farm for every type of crop besides for pumpkins and mushrooms. In case you don't want to think, here are the crops : Wheat, Sugar Cane, and Melons. They do NOT have to be in the same house/building. They just have to be there.
Once you have completed all of these, proceed!
Step Six : Let's Expand New England!!
Build another colony with the same requirements as the first. Try to vary the design and theme of each colony so you don't get bored of it. You do not have to do egg farms, or mob traps in any of the other one. You still need a wheat farm though. Repeat steps three and four on the next town.
When you have finished, proceed on the the final step (not including bonus)!!
Step Seven : Mapping the Region
Craft a map and move from town to town, making a gravel walkway. This way, people will know where the towns are and how far apart they are. You have finished Easy Mode of The New World!! Good job!! Now, if you are bored, you can try the bonus step. Be warned, this is hard!! :smile.gif:
BONUS STEP!!!! : Build another CITY with the requirements for the colonies, AND a hospital, a police station, a train station, a Nether Portal, Cakes, <-- Derp, Some redstone contraptions, and whatever else you'd like. Congratulations!! You're done with this challenge. You should feel very proud of yourself. This was a hard task. :smile.gif:
NORMAL MODE
Basic Guidelines
Your job in Normal Mode is to create 3 or more colonies while connecting them with either gravel walkways or underground rail roads. There are multiple steps to Normal Mode, you have to do them step by step. If you do not want to follow any step exactly, feel free to change it a little so it's possible for you and still fun.
If you are going to play with multiple people (recommended), you will have slightly altered and added jobs. When something is altered, I will tell you.
Additional rules for Normal Mode :
Always keep on easy or higher
Your mines have to be at least 3x3 and be supported by fences (beams) every 10 blocks. (Idea from Iamchris27)
If you are in a ravine, you must exit it immediately until you have full armor, regardless of grade (Leather, Iron, etc.)
The first building you must build, is your own house!! It must have a front door, a bedroom, a living room, and a basement with a wheat farm (small). This will only be a basic house. NO DIRT HOUSES. Must be wood or any type of stone. (You do not need a bed, you just need a bed room)
If there are multiple people, you must have 2 houses with the requirements up above or 1 house with 2 bedrooms, 2 wheat farms, and all else remains the same. Start a sugar cane farm in your basement, or outside of your house on the lakeside. you only need one sugar cane farm in your neighborhood.
Once you have finished this, proceed onto the next step.
Step Two : Hm... I need more!
Alrighty, today is the day, I need more gold and iron! Go in your mine and keep expanding it. Today you will need to find a stack of coal, a stack of iron, and 40 gold. Pretty self explanatory... yup. If you are on multiplayer, both people count as 1. In other words, nothing is changed. Split the work.
Proceed onto the next step once this has been done.
Step Three : Build more complicated stuff?
Aight, let's get into the stuff you have to build. This is a little more complicated, and there's a lot more to do.
During this step, you must build the following :
A Church, has to be big. At least a 15x15 area, no square churches. Add dimension, make them rounded or add some indentions.
A library, has to have 2 floors, in a 20x20 area, can be square, add some large windows, must be at least 10 blocks tall, not including roof. Must have at least 128 bookcases in it.
One or more restaurants, no food is required in them, but it is recommended. It should have some forges and chests in it.
Dock house, you must build a dock and a dock house which means there's a place for boats to come in and dock safely without smashing it to pieces. The house is just there so they can manage the dockings.
A Train Station, you must have a train station for later on when you connect all of the towns.
Once all of these builds are done, proceed on. If you run out of materials, go get some more! :smile.gif:
Step Four : Finishing touches
Okay, this step is quite easy. Just connect all of the houses with walkways, using gravel or stacked double slabs of stone. If heights of the colony is changing a lot, use stairs to ascend or descend. If the colony's height is staying mostly the same, but some changes in elevation here and there, use one half slab. Add fences around the town with a proper entrance and exit. Beautify everything that you have, and remodel if necessary. Use signs to direct people to places and objects.
Step Five : Ensure Survival
Make sure your town WILL survive. Here are 3 things you MUST make to ensure that :
(Shown in the previous video up there)
An Overall Farm - This farm must have sugar cane, wheat, melons, pumpkins (optional), and mushrooms (optional) growing at once. The Melons are not optional, be sure you know how to farm them properly.
Step Six : No! Repetition!!
You have to do this another two times, except in different areas (try to make it different biomes). Try to vary the design and theme of each colony so you don't get bored of it. You do not have to do egg farms, or mob traps in any of the other two. You still need a farm though. Repeat steps three and four on the next two towns.
Step Seven : Hm, I'm lost?
To prevent anyone from getting lost, connect the train stations (underground) from town to town. The tunnels people go through must be a 5x5 area. This will probably take the most time, considering you have to get railings and minecarts and enough pickaxes to let you dig up that much.
Step Eight : Lifetime Supply
You must collect 2 stacks of iron, 2 stacks of coal, 2 stacks of gold, and 50 diamonds. This will ensure enough ores and materials to last you a LONG time. You can do this during any step. Bam, you are done with the challenge. Now post your world on this forum and I will put it up here and say that you have completed it. Now, you want something else to do? Take the bonus step. :3
BONUS STEP!!!! : Build another CITY with all of the previous requirements, PLUS a hospital, a police station, a train station, a Nether Portal, Cakes, <-- Derp, Some redstone contraptions, and whatever else you'd like. Congratulations!! You're done with this challenge. You should feel very proud of yourself. This was a hard task. :smile.gif:
Some Screenshots
Here's a whole album of what I have done so far. I'm playing this on Easy mode with Normal Level of Monsters. I only started this for like 10 hours, (yup...), so yeah. I don't have much done. Anyways, people said "Pictures or it ain't real", well, here ya go. (I did not use fly mod, I just stacked a crap load of dirt under me and went cinematic) - http://imageshack.us/g/85/20111024211717.png/
To get your pictures up here, go upload your screen shots onto imageshack.us and then post it in the comments. I will take the album ASAP and post it up here. :smile.gif:

Englishe? Wut..
Yep.. I already tested mine. That's where my screen shots came from :DDD Go check them out. It was fun while i was doing it. This one isn't "Blah" I'm hoping, I just think it's quite interesting. You should try it out :3
Here's an example of what I mean. Your colonies could specialize in certain industries, like wood and wood products (Chests, fence, etc).
