I'm developing an underground style that captures a tomb-esc feel, with geometric design and high ceilings. My average room would be 5x5x7 carved underground.
As for above ground, I have been making a wall design I haven't seen anywhere; it's basically a fancy lip.
I don't have pictures of it yet, since... I've been underground for the past week on a new server I'm playing on. :tongue.gif:
I've noticed I use the same sort of style when building structures. What about you? Post pictures if you have them. I'll do the same when I can.
My style varies depending on the setting. Currently, I have a wood 20x30 alpine chalet, with peaked roof (made from stairs) in a snowy pine forest. First floor has 6 rooms, 2nd floor has big 7x7 windows facing sunrise/sunset and a loft.
I prefer the excavation of caves, developing them into massive homes. Unfortunately, I have no screenshots though on an RPG server, I created this massive cave (hidden w/ the use of pistons & water) that led into about the 30th level and from there, I organized it and made it look flippin amazing.
Hm, I wouldn't call it 'style', rather 'custom'.
Somehow I tend to digging out huge cubic rooms under the earth while above I always have tiny little one-person houses.
I have a thing about building underground. My house on the surface is always a really average looking square house, but underground is an extensive network of heavily decorated rooms. Not sure why I build that way.
I change it up. I used to build large, temple-esque buildings to live in, then I did some sandstone/glass modern looking houses, then I did underground living areas with water/glowstone roofs and lots of rooms. Most recently I'm making a living area on the beach that is all glass with rooms spread around and connected with glass tunnels
Mine always seem to be pretty organic in nature. I'll start with a small dirt hut on the first day, and start my mine. Then i'll change the hut to wood or stone, start adding windows. Then i'll make it bigger or make a second room for lots of storage chests. Then i'll expand out more for a farm or something. Then even more with more utility rooms and such. Then a living room or a kitchen or whatever I feel like doing. But they always start off as a small hut then just organically out from there. I'll often try to do different materials... even recently i built a nice house out of snow and wood, looked pretty nice. :smile.gif:
I prefer a modern building style. This is my latest house:
Nice! What are the walls made out of?
My first building develops from the hole I dig into the first cliffwall I come across. Then, something freestanding, but generally without any consistent style. Whenever I build something new, I try to make it look way different from whatever I've done before.
I like to get halfway through building something amazing, then through fear of ruining it, I stop. Then I get bored with the world. Then I delete it. Then I stop playing Minecraft for 2 weeks. Then I feel inspired and make a new world. Repeat.
Yeah, I build plain looking box towers compulsively. I need to get out of the habit, but they're so convenient for shooting mobs from safety (and checking the area for creepers before I leave the house in the morning).
actually im building a giant spaceship now :biggrin.gif: i love space

Let your anger be as a monkey in a piñata... hiding amongst the candy... hoping the kids don't break through with the stick!
We are what we eat and we are who we meet. These are not mutually exclusive.

Sounds like a hobbit hole, and that means comfort.
Same here every single time
The walls are made of snow. I'm using Pixeludi's Pack though, so the snow doesn't look as ugly as it does in the default texture pack. :wink.gif:

I'm on a netbook, but soon as I can play on my desktop, I will try original and modern houses.
