Every update that comes along almost requires us to delete our saves and start fresh! I mean, unless you want to travel for miles to find newer content, you are stuck with a new map.
Will this ever end? This is the #1 reason why I have refused to purchase my own server, because I'm not paying for something that will have to be deleted every few months.
Greetings, nice to meet ya! if i helped you in any kind of way be sure to press the lil' arrow button there, and you will help me too! that's cool isn't it???
I think exactly the opposite. I love starting over things lol that's why I don't usually play mmorpgs, because I love starting over a character or play a game from the beginning even if I didn't finish it. That's why I want to get this game :smile.gif: because except for achievements, you basically have nothing to bind you. The 2 weeks I tried it with HB3, I loved the idea of freedom this game gives. You can do whatever you want, and there is no reason to do something way too complicated, knowing you will probably delete it in the future.
You've been deleting your worlds unnecessarily. Even if some devastatingly radical patch came down the pipe, worst comes to worst you could used a third party tool to copy your part of the world to a fresh one, and this has never happened.

You can get a mod that limits the amount of space people can use on a map so that when a new update occurs that requires new chunks you can just open more territory for people to use. That way you can keep the old stuff and always have new stuff available. Just move the spawn accordingly or make teleports to the new areas.
Just get single player commands, turn it on peaceful, build a nether portal, travel for a while, come out and set your spawn point.
How about instead...don't get Single Player Commands, don't set it to peaceful, build a Nether portal, travel for a while, come out and use a bed to set your spawn point.

The ones who aren't shouldn't need to download SPC because they already have it.
And, they shouldn't have to set it to peaceful because it already is.
And why change spawn using a mod when you can do it without.

You don't need to travel nearly as far as you're making it out be.
And I hope you realize you're complaining about having to go to new places to see new terrain.
How on earth could it work differently?
Would the ground change shape under your buildings, ruining or completely demolishing them? Yeah, that sounds much better.
Dude I've had the same map since alpha, every since the bed change its been super easy.
Let me tell you, its a great filling to have an old map honestly. Sure moving items over to the new area can be a bit of a pain, but a lot better than starting with nothing.
This way I can go on a long mine cart ride (I always move towards the rising sun in a straight line) back thru the past. (still a fair amount I haven't converted from the old boosters though)
Nothing more fun that being able to see just how much the game has changed since I have started.

I've had three worlds. My Alpha 1.1 world, my Beta 1.5 world and my beta 1.7.3 world. I haven't played on my Alpha world in a while though.
Everytime i log on, i expect to see my warn status go up.

Not all of us are survival players.
