I've been working on recreating (at least a small part) of Ultima Online within Minecraft. It has been a long process for what feels like a very small result (as is the glory of Minecraft).
I thought I would post a short video of what I have so far (this takes place in it's own area within a multiplayer server that a few friends and I run).
Update ***** 3/11/11 *****
Since my previous statement, I have added the foundations to more buildings (I have about a fifth of the buildings left to layout for the Western part of Britain), all bridges in and out of the peninsula, the docks, and shaped some of the land.
I still intend on shaping the land - which will involve a lot of water activity, adding more buildings - including transforming the existing foundations into finished products, and begging the eastern part of the town.
I haven't watched the video yet but wanted to reply. I've been dying to try to recreate certain towns in Minecraft, I think it would be amazing. I'll edit once the video is done. I love UO lore.
Stratics is good for anything related to cities or towns. From their virtues to shop placement to history. Don't know if it'll help but it helped me seeing where buildings should go.
I played UO up until the housing dropped. Absolutely couldn't stand it afterwards. I played on a limited housing free server after about a year for a little while, botting all the way ...
My biggest beef with the housing was the lag-factor. I got used to wide-open, empty spaces between the cities and would walk between them. When housing dropped, and the land-grab happened, all of a sudden, you'd see a large open space .................. and would run smack dab into the wall of a ****ing huge castle.... and the server lines were annoying too. Can't tell you how many times I died because a lich or a red was on the other side of a server line that I couldn't see.

Let me know what you think.

Part 2 (3/11/11 update):
I'm excited now!
I wish I still had my world with a small tower and sandstone home. Makes me want to start building it all again.

Looks good so far (since I can't see your video?)

Tell me if the schematic works, I cannot test it as of the moment. - My game booted me after I saved the schematic.
I cannot get this opened up in mcedit. It gives me the "I don't know how to import this file" error.
