My first world (World1) is 583 MB, which only includes the Overworld (121185 chunks) as I deleted the Nether and End a long time ago and have never been back since; after this is TMCWv4, which is 212 MB and includes all dimensions (Overworld = 201 MB, Nether = 7.68 MB, End = 2.81 MB), with 30353 chunks in the Overworld, then TMCWv1, which is 178 MB (Overworld = 165 MB, Nether = 10.1 MB, End = 2.76 MB) and has 33704 chunks in the Overworld (in general, the Nether and End are similar in size and explored area and the Overworld is really all that matters, as that is where I spend nearly all my time).
Also, you may notice that TMCWv4 takes up more space but TMCWv1 has more chunks, with the average size of each chunk (Overworld only) being 5045 bytes for World1, 5133 bytes for TMCWv1, and 6944 bytes for TMCWv4, which reflects the much more complex world generation in TMCWv4, with region files being up to 8 MB, compared to about 6 MB for most other worlds (TripleHeightTerrain has the largest regions, up to 9.5 MB, due to 3x the ground depth; due to compression the number of different types of blocks in the world matters more; my worlds also generally take up more disk space due to lighting up caves increasing the complexity of light data).
Because of these factors, explored area is a better way to compare different worlds across different versions/mods (or in my case, underground volume; in this regard THT is equivalent to a vanilla 1.6.4 world with about 4 times the area due to having that much more volume per chunk):
I have a Survival World with 47.7mb and its on Bedrock Edition since my PC broke a few months back. My Mom has a Survival world with 1468mb on Java Edition she has been playing since Infdev. (yes i know its unusal for a parent to play minecraft) :/

My main "real" world - which I've been neglecting for a while; it's still at 1.14.4, i've been playing on my 1.18 test world - is at 7.52GB.
Lots of exploring (i'm on map #532), lots of building. Massive rail network.
The last screenshot of my maproom, to give you an idea of ho much i've explored...
(started out in the middle of the cluster of maps in the lower-right corner, when woodland mansions were added I followed a map all the way north and west to the second map down/second map from the left in the top-left corner... moved in, and spent a couple of years playing in and around that region while slowly working my way back, connecting villages and other points of interest by rail until I finally connected back to my original rail network; it takes well over an hour realtime to get from my original house to my woodland base by rail)

It's on a server, so I ran a tool to generate the world to be 10,000 by 10,000 blocks in total, to save processing power when new chunks are generated. You could probably guess storing over 25,500,000,000 blocks in a folder would take up a lot of space.
Thank goodness I didn't go with my idea of generating it to be 1,000,000 by 1,000,000 blocks.

My creative world is 1GB because I've done a lot of exploring and built many houses.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
2,3 GB here ,legit survival world since 1.12

Currently 4.61GB given it's a 10 year+ singleplayer surival world and I have traveled at least 20 - 30k in every direction for new chunks, at least.
