I'd have to say that, by the sounds of it, he runs into a cave with a stone entrance, which then turns to dirt. Pulls out the flint and steel, brings out a book (possibly a map to see where he is). Meanwhile, something runs into the cave and attacks him. The last part sounds like something following the same path that he went down, just at a much greater speed...
It sounds like he runs into a cave, flicks a lighter to light something, coughs, opens a book, then runs through a carnival and gets attacked by something?
Gonna have to agree with the carnival part, some of the sounds made no sense/weren't from Minecraft as we know it =/
Well, the man in the music is running from something, and he is using a lighter(that clicking noise)
And you can hear a ghast, and some gravel.
I think the man is running from monsters in nether.
I think that at the end when you hear the dirt, the man is placing dirt blocks to hopefully make a barrier between him and whatever is chasing him. All I can guess from the sudden ending that turned to the end of a record was that he wasn't quick enough at building before it got to him.

WOAH, WAIT. Our eyes take pictures? Please tell me I can recover these pictures from another person.
You have to stick a thumb drive up their nose, drag and drop the pictures onto it, and then load them through your ear.
Sounds like a Mystery chaps! *Blow bubbles out of pipe*

My theory this seem to be like an recording might I say from... a dungeon? Most likely to explain a man's death... maybe a side story? Quite evil. It might happen to be in link with a new mob or boss?
wow, this is a really interesting find. This music file reminds me so much of the zombie easter egg theories. Alright, here's my crack at this.
I made a few different conclusions, and I think you can argue that this may take place in either a cavern or the nether
Here's my breakdown:
-first, he's obviously running from some sort of monster, I think we can all agree on that.
-at the beginning, it sounds like he could either be running on smooth stone, which indicates a cavern, or netherrack, which indicates the nether.
-next we hear strange noises. These are likely indications of monsters (once again, quite obvious). The sound is too different, or possibly even distorted to tell what monster, however in my opinion, it sounds most like a zombie pigmen (but still not similar to it). This would indicate the nether. However, the noises are also echoed quite a bit, which gives indication that it is a cavern. It could possibly be a cavern in the nether, but I can't confirm that.
-we also hear some hypnotic-like noise for a few seconds. It could be the indication of a portal, which would then indicate it taking place in the nether. However if it were a portal, why then didn't the person escape through it? I personally think that instead of a portal, it's just sound effects to put in the mood.
-we then hear of course the clicking noise, which I'm sure most people would agree is the flint and steel (or lighter). This likely indicates that he's trying to get some light to see what he's doing. However, if he does need light, then it seems more likely that he's in a cavern than the nether, because in the nether, everything is lit up by either glowstone, lava, or random fires.
-next we hear him cough. The coughing could mean several different things. I think the most popular theory is that its cuz he lit a cigarette. I personally don't think that's the reason though. I have one of two possible theories. The first is that if he's in a cavern, then there would be less air for him to breathe him. So it could be the indication of cavern. Plus, lighting that fire would cause smoke to appear, which would cause him to cough even more. Another theory could be that he's in the nether where there's a ton of fire/smoke around him, so just the atmosphere alone could be causing him to wheeze.
-these next few ideas are just guesses. Right after coughs, and after he walks a little bit, the small noise after could indicate the moving of a chair, and the unbuckling noise could indicate the opening of a briefcase or some sort of bag. Also, I think I read in one post where someone said the sound right around 0:35 sounded like a ghost. I personally don't think it is, and just think that it's the person breathing a sigh of relief, cuz he has a false sense of security
-next we hear pages. Now some people speculate that he's looking at a map. I think it is possible for it to be a map, but I also think it's unlikely. You can hear the pages being flipped, and it's unlikely that you would flip pages on a map. Also judging by the way he flips the pages, it sounds like he's flipping to a specific page he has in mind. Now this could indicate several things, but I think it most likely indicates a diary of some sort that he is writing (he flips to the page of where his new entry will go)
-some more guesses: he then pauses, and stays quiet cuz he hears some noises in the distance. The sound of an object sliding right after the very small pause could indicate his chair sliding (him standing up), then he clicks his lighter to get more light and look further into the dark areas around him, and he stays quiet during this time to. The next sound during the silence has me a little stumped. I personally think that it's most likely the sound of some kind of monster (possibly a ghast?). It could also be the sound of the book being closed (pages being turned back quickly), but it sounds a little bit funky for that. However, if it is a ghast, then that would give more indication that it's the nether
-he then likely unclicks his lighter (to put out the light), and I think he probably does this to not give away his position to the monsters. This also would give reason as to why he starts to run
-near the end, it sounds like he's running on a new type of material. This material can be several things. Firstly, it could very well be gravel, which could mean nether OR a cavern. However, it can also be dirt, which can only be in a cavern. Also, if it is dirt, then you must note the noise it makes. Dirt with grass on it makes a different noise than dirt without grass; the noise in this part sounds like dirt without grass. If the dirt doesn't have grass, then that means that it the dirt isn't in contact with dirt on the surface, which in turn means that if it is dirt, then it's in a cavern
-then at the very end, we hear a dog barking. This is probably a wolf. It's likely a tamed wolf, because whether the person is still running in the nether, or in an underground cavern, wolves will not appear wild in either of those environments. Therefore he should be trained. Plus, the wolf could be barking at the monsters that are chasing the man.
-also you should make note of the noise at the beginning that brings the audio in, and at the end that cuts it out. Both sound like some sort of tape recording/video recording is being played. It could possibly be part of a video log the person who's actually running away made.
Anyways, my personal belief is that it's more likely to be a cavern/dungeon type of place. The audio clues make the idea of the place being a cave much more of a plausible scenario in my opinion, then the idea of it being the nether does. But that's just my point of view.
Oh, and please forgive any stupid grammatical errors. I spent a lot of time typing this, it's 3 in the morning, and I can't bother myself to check it over again.
My humble LPs can be found here.
Just Kidding
But seriously this scared me!
And i think you should change the title so other people can see this!
Gonna have to agree with the carnival part, some of the sounds made no sense/weren't from Minecraft as we know it =/
Better not be evil clowns in the Nether for 1.7
To me clowns are scarier than Herobrine (since he's fake)
We all floooooat down here . . . .
And you can hear a ghast, and some gravel.
I think the man is running from monsters in nether.
Tries to relight portal, fails.
Checks map.
Tries again.
Success(?)
Still being chased. By what seems to be a helicopter containing spiders.
Dog gets killed, rapidly followed by him.
How to not die in a cave
To build himself up to what he was about to unleash? Anyone going through that would need a good mental preperation period.
I'm going to be the odd guy out and this was a anthropomorphic map doing aerobics while playng with a lighter when it ran around on sand and fell.
In all seriousness, sounds like a deep cave.
