In 1.8 it is definitely much easier to spend your xp, aka not using all 30 levels on one item. However something i have noticed, is that when ever you repair a tool, the xp cost goes up. For example, i have a diamond pick that has efficiency V, and Unbreaking 3 on it. When i first had to repair it from really low, it cost:
3, 4 then 5 xp. Next time i had to repair it, it cost 16, 17, then 18 xp. Now i need to repair, but i cant, because it costs, 32 xp, BUT, i did put 2 more diamond in, and saw each diamond i added, added 1 xp, but in between the times i had to repair, the costs got higher, with a larger gap, as in from 5 xp, for 3 diamonds, to 18 xp, for 3 diamonds, and now 34 xp, for 3 diamonds. Now, i am on a server, BUT i don't think its a plugin, because i don't think they added any new plugins to the server when 1.8 came out. So, has anyone else noticed this somewhat minor predicament?

It's built into MC.
It's easier, in my opinion anyway, to enchant new items but you can't keep on repairing old ones.
Personally I prefer it this way to the way it was before, but people are different.
