Ever had trouble finding an end portal in survival? Have you ever had trouble being able to harvest a bunch of ender pearls for eyes of ender JUST to find a stronghold? Then take my advice!
1. In the world selection, create a copy of the world you're having trouble with finding an end portal, and put it on creative.
2. Get an eye of ender once you've joined and spam the eye of ender until they start going down underground.
3. Break the blocks down until you run into the stronghold, (make sure you don't fall into lava, or you might fall into lava in survival!) and write down the coordinates of the stronghold location (press F3 for the x, y, and z coordinates).
4. Finally, go to those coordinates in your original, survival world and dig down to the stronghold.
5. Have fun exploring the stronghold and defeating the Enderdragon!

Of course it's cheating! You are circumventing the method of finding the Stronghold meant by the developers.
You can either find one by blind luck or by using Eyes of Ender - popping into Creative mode to give yourself an advantage is pointless.
By the same token, you can go into Spectator mode, find all the ores you want, write down the co-ords and find them in your Survival world.
What I meant by cheating is using commands in your world. Usually, people use /gamemode or /tp or even /fill, but I'm talking about when you are desperately wanting to find a stronghold on a world with cheats disabled.
And what they mean is that going into creative, is the same as using /gamemode, but overcomplicated.
True, but this is for people who disabled cheats when they first created the world. Usually people do that so the don't get tempted to grab stuff out of creative or use /give commands, and so they can play the game for real without using commands (or cheats ).

You can enable cheats in any world by clicking "Open to LAN" and turning cheats on - it even works in Hardcore(!) mode.
What's the fun in that? Might as well /give yourself a stack of ender eyes. What's the difference?
"/give"-ing yourself a stack of Ender eyes would ensure that you have enough to activate the portal. All that this duplicate seed cheat does is gives you the stronghold's location. Two completely separate scenarios.

Good point, I didn't think about that.

I'm all for playing the game how you want, but there's just no sense of accomplishment if you already know where everything is.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
