So, I've amassed a couple of stacks of diamonds and a lot of XP and started running around like an indestructable tank in full diamond armor with Protection IV on everything.
But I'm suprised that I can now just shrug off Witch potions with just an extra baked potatoe or two, is it supposed to work that way?
I thought one needed to either drink milk or run away and hide until they wore off.
Is it the armor or were Witches nerfed in 1.8?
Will I find Wither Skeletons similarly ineffective, or do I still have to worry about them?

I checked, I'm on Normal difficulty.
Protection enchantment reduces all the damage the game can give you (except falling into the Void.) Withering. Drowning. Falling. Poisoning. Almost too good to be true, right? Full Protection IV reduces damage by about 60% in addition to the protection against fire and physical attack that the diamond armor gives you. 60% damage reduction is a lot ( you'll live 2.5x as long under attack.) Even better, resisting some non-fire non-physical attack doesn't even take durability off your armor!
As you've noticed in this top armor most attacks and damage are trivial. The Wither is still dangerous. His Wither effect is a lot stronger that the Wither effect from Wither Skeletons - like Witches, in your armor, Wither Skeletons just need a full food bar to deal with.
This is why I don't play on PvP or factions servers, because of noobs running around in this gear. Its unfair, and impossible to deal with and avoid.
Enchanted Diamond armor is currently, overpowered, and unfortunately will remain so, or get even more overpowered, thanks to M$.
As said above, it ignores 60% of damage, and with enchanted golden apples and strength potion to boot, you are unstoppable, unless the enderdragon knocks you into the void.:-(o): And in single player, the only thing that can hurt you is your own stupidity or a charged creeper.

How much difference would switching to Hard make?
Just testing.
Hard (or Hardcore) is about 50% more damage than Normal overall. Not sure if Hard affects status effect damage like Poison or Wither (I suspect not.)
All geared up in Hard difficulty, most things are still not scary Mobs of Pigmen are pretty bad. The Wither is bad. Wither Skeletons are a little bad.
