I read my latest replies and I'm gonna go through them again to make sure I add most of them. Someone asked for color coding. How exactly do you think I should code it?
Well, on my personal project forums, I have something like:
Red for Titles and Headers, Orange for Subtitles and Secondary headers, and yellow for body text, then again, my forum has grey background which makes them stand out so much better. <.<;;
But something to Scale the difference of the text, separating names and questions from the answers would be a good start. Just play around with colors and see what works here, what stands out and is easy to read without giving people headaches.
Suggestions: > Another thing that can be added; perhaps a more detailed description of Furnaces and Smelting, since that can be intimidating for newbies that don't know about the concepts behind that function. > In addition, common terms that is used in minecraft such as 'what is a chunk?' or even just make a 'Mine Craft Terminology' section. Also with how many threads of people asking 'What is a biome?' you might as well throw that in there too. > If the guide gets long enough, you could also stick in a table of contents with search taggings listed, which are just some random tags like [faq001] or something that people could use their search bar [ctrl+f] to go between questions with ease. The easier educating oneself is, the more likely people will be able to find out the answers to their questions without having to post. Though it will still happen anyways, it's the law of the internet I'm pretty sure.
I just bought this game and started using the cartograph. Are maps normally supposed to look like this? They have blocks of land far out in the middle of nowhere. And areas of the map have perfect square mountains.
-snip-
Its just a mapgen glitch, you haven't fully loaded those chunks in game yet. If you go exploring in that area it will fix itself by generating the missing pieces. It happened to me when I first used cartograph as well, then I went exploring the area to test my theory and remapped it with cartograph to see if it fixed itself and it did.

I'm pretty sure I have a little about biomes on there. And to be honest, I'm not sure what I should put under terminology. Chunk is about all I can think of, and you just said it. As for searching, it's not too effective outside of the main text, but I did have two questions with size 1 text (invisible, since normal is 100) as keywords. One of them was the mob spawner. I'm not sure about the other. What I want to be able to do, is to make it so I can click and go to a specific question in a table of contents. Like . I don't think I can do that here though.

You do have biomes on the list, I merely am suggesting alternative ways to organize the information listed. Sadly, I too, do not know if you can use a click and go method like that here, although it would be very effective, which is why I suggested the ctrl+F guide instead. (Though if you can do it the other way that would be most definitely awesome.
As for terminology, it is one of those things that starts out small, then you build onto it as questions are asked. It helps a lot to have a fresh perspective though, from someone who doesn't know what has become commonplace here. :T
I also just realized an amendment to your farming section:
Tilled soil will get destroyed (converted to regular dirt) if it is constantly stepped on, by the player or NPCs.
In addition, hydrated soil will grow faster than non hydrated soil.
And light sources such as torches will allow plants to grow at night or underground.
I`m surprised this hasn't been stickyed yet, but at the same time I`m happy to see that this is being updated quite a bit.
Oh, and I didn't know Herobrine was confirmed for later updates.... IT BETTER BE MADE PUBLIC AND BE OPTIONAL! *Buy`s 2 packs of Pampers from nearby Wal-Mart*

I'll add the terminology section. I'll just start with a few...
And thanks for the amendment, but I think that is explained in the link I gave. I'm not trying to rewrite the whole wiki guide on it. :tongue.gif:

True enough. XD;
Love the guide, will be happy even if it only helps a handful of people. :3
This guide will help remove a lot of the new user's questions about the game so that we aren't spammed anymore on the forums = less flaming replies by annoyed older users

This was my larger motivation. We're still getting questions that should be here (and some that ARE answered here) though, but I think that's partially due to that this is not a sticky, and not always being on the top of the first page. :/

I'm not sure if this is something to put in the FAQ, but it's common that chunks like that are isolated. However, I've never seen it to that extent. o_o
EDIT: I think I'll screw with color coding. However, how big exactly is chunk? I need confirmation. :/
Thanks. XD
EDIT: Anyone know of a way to do something like HTML's thing? I want to add a small table of contents that links you to the questions...
