Fantastic guide. I only started playing about a month ago and this was my first go to guide to learn the ins and outs. Thank you for making it :smile.gif:
The "plant sugarcane ANYWHERE underwater" trick no longer works as of 1.5. You can still plant it next to a watery hole, just as you can on the surface. Still easier IMO than building a wall and putting stuff on it. [edit]
You can still plant it, then remove the watery hole, and have it stay there until it is disturbed. ("Fragile state")
Quoted for attention. Does that even work here? Lol, I misread. I thought I saw thanks, not just compliments lol. :tongue.gif:

If I understood the procedure correctly, performing it would just be a hassle.
Find a dirt ledge or dig a one-block hole in dirt, then slap down sugar cane? Versus build a wall and attach things to it?
Heck, if relying on dirt seafloor is the issue, you could put down a block of dirt and two cane pieces and it's just as easy as putting down two blocks of whatever and a ladder, right? And you can enter/leave/see in all sides, not just the one the ladder is on. Sugar cane is just so handy, cheap, easily reclaimable... it's not the superstar it was before the update, I'll admit, but it's still the linchpin of all my prolonged underwater activity. Exploring, creating airspace for underwater construction (see "easily reclaimable"), you name it.
P.S. I just noticed ... "You can make a wall, and place a block off from it for a small air gap." It sounds like this refers to actual blocks and not e.g. ladders. Are you quite sure this actually works? I've had it happen where a tiny airspace under blocks like I think you're describing resets your bubbles but you still drown.

Maybe that part needed clarification. Let me fix it.
You can make a wall, and place a block off from it, then another under it and destroy it for a small air gap.
I see. Yes, that makes much more sense. But are you seriously telling me that placing at least 4 blocks, then destroying one of them, is "less of a hassle" than placing or destroying one dirt block, then placing two sugar cane pieces?
It's your FAQ, and as such you're the ultimate arbiter of what you put in it, but that just doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
...Ohhh diamond sandwich...
*bites*
IT TASTES OF BLOCKY GOODNESS.
