My kids used to ask, "what should I build?" all the time. So, I dug up a game I made while I was in architecture school that works exactly like your generator but mine was made in the 90s... with index cards. You draw a card from one pile with a modifier and the second card from the other pile with an architectural element, program, or building type, etc. Then create the result. If you want more data for the generator I can give you the lists. Otherwise, fun ideas! Even if you pass on something it generates, just thinking about building it can give you inspiration.
I've give it couple of spins and… I'm just disappointed.
I either have superior version, or it's just…something without any function.
I never had to think about what I want to build. I still have pretty decent list of things needed to be build. And some of them will require other things, not on the list. And everything serves some function.
I've built towers to the sky from bedrock, or on top of mountains with concrete (which required to design and build concrete-making facility), I have highway system…
So I really don't see the praise this thing gets. My MC world is old 6100 in game days, and even though I have an empire, I still don't have so many things… If you'd ask me in year 9 (days 9000 to 9999), then I'd probably give you the same answer. There is just so much to build, i'd need couple other people. Some of them would farm, some of them work with animals, some of them mining, some of them would just…load stuff, go somewhere, dump it there, and go back.
And this is just my empire. I don't even talk about colonies. There the situation is even worse. I just know, where I want to build. Or have something small there. That's it. No imperial walls, no highway network, no nothing…
Thank you for share this!
