Prologue
I was lost in the Nether, so I put my items in a chest, pressed F3, then F2, then jumped into lava. after about 5-10 grueling minutes, I found my stuff again. Now on to the main story.
Hello failure, my old friend
This started when I was in the Overworld. I went to the Nether to gather some Soul Sand for my future Nether wart farm. I went through my portal. after searching around for some soul sand while keeping a mental path of my portal ( I REALLY didn't want to be lost again, the Nether's a beast), I saw some on the other side of a Lava Ocean.
"Oh, great, I thought. Luckily I got some cobblestone." So I placed some on my path to it, while accidentally placing some Nether Brick, because my hand was slipping from the mouse. "Great! well, I'll get those back later." Then, I SLIPPED. Luckily, I pressed the pause button. "OH NO! WHERE"S MCEDIT!?" I figured that if I moved my player's position back onto the bridge, then reload, It would reset And I'd be fine.
So, I did it. Then, my character was stuck on a block. "Aw, man! How am I-- THEN I PLACED A BLOCK. I died in midair by apparently "falling from a high place" and into the lava. My items were gone. my diamond pickaxe, my blocks, my armor... gone.
Have YOU had any EPIC FAIL calibre deaths in Minecraft?
I once had an efficiency 3 unbreaking 3 silk touch 1 diamond picaxe. Never had any bad luck when digging under myself(note this is was at Y 20 and below), so I decided to get some lapis ore with my silk touch. Chose the wrong day to do it, though. Fell into lava, was glitched into a wall, water evaporated when I placed it, and I died. I refused to EVER play on that world again.
I didn't know how to mine obsidian from the lava lakes deep down. Pour the water and freeze the lava and make obsidian - sure - but mining it, when the block broke, the obsidian would just jump into the lava below it and disappear. I would try to edge forward to get it as it broke, and guess who ended up bobbing around in the lava, dying, and losing all his stuff?
(I hated losing any obsidian because I thought mining obsidian put a lot of wear on my nice new diamond pickaxe - all those swings chipping away at the obsidian!)
"Enough of that!" I thought. "I'll just make a cobblestone trench, fill it up with lava buckets, and then pour water on it to make obsidian!" Great. Well I filled up most of the trench, edged forward to put the last bucket of lava in the trench, and of course fell in. Bobbed around in the lava on fire, couldn't get out, lost most of my stuff including my new diamond pickaxe.
I know now you just make a water stream with a bucket and mine obsidian blocks at the edge of the stream. But for a while it was like lava had a weird magnetic attraction to my poor guy - if there was lava around, one way or another he was going to end up in it.
When I first played Minecraft Beta (With the new launcher, playing old versions) I had a pretty decent world. I built a house based off Steve's house from the Minecraft music video 'Revenge', and I had just found my very first diamonds and made a diamond pickaxe. I was pillering across a lava lake to get home, and ran out of cobblestone, so I used the next block in my inventory.

Looks like Lava is serial killer here xD
Umm yeah, this was all in server btw ... (diamond armor all protection 4/unbreaking , diamond pick eff 4 unb 3, diamond pick eff 4 unb 3 silk 1 , diamond showel also axe , diamond sword sharpness 5 unbreaking 3 and other random blocks while mining ) died while glitching trough block and ending up in lava ... 4 times in overworld and 2 times in Nether . All times I had probably same things on me xD
Did not ragequit though ... I spent each time all day to get my stuff back (afk in zombie / skeleton farm since we did not have any "faster" farm back then) .
After second time that happened , I just LOLed at other ones xD

My friend had fun making a DRW plugin for me that made you go in 《chicken camera height》, then releasing shift would make you go super fast and roll up 1 block heights.
Had fun rolling around and I saw a small hill. I decided to climb it and jump off for fun.
Didn't see the ravine.
I tested it in a server with all my stuff on my character.
Lava is worse than creepers to die to haha. With lava you're losing all your items and gonna ragequit. WIth creepers I just get ed off a little but keep playing haha
full diamond gear no enchantments diamond pick diamond sword knockback 3 diamond axe 16 actual diamonds 6 emeralds 49 iron and 3 saddles was getting ready to mine into a fresh wall creeper blew behind me blew a hole in the wall and lava was there all happened so fast couldn't jump in time to avoid the lava it finished what the creeper started erased the level redid the same seed tho i write coordinates at least
One time I was making a slime farm and I fell into lava (Note: This was on the xbox version so I could save and quit then put it on peaceful, regen, then go back to normal difficulty and all is good) I got out of the lava and onto a block and I was dying from fire damage and I did what was in the parentheses and then when I went back in normal I still died and all my stuff flew into the lava. All my diamond armor, all my enchanted diamond tools, everything. I quit and deleted that world. I have one that's 50x better now :3

When I was even more newby than I am now, I placed Lava in a cobblestone pit in my house as a"lava trash can". I was so proud. But I happened to forget that my house had wooden walls.... Oh, what newbies do! I rage quit.
I had just killed the ender dragon, gone end busting, and got a shiny new elytra. I then got an elytra for three friends. Sitting in my netherite armor with max enchants (prot IV, unbreaking III, mending, feather falling IV, respiration III, Aqua Affinity, Depth Strider III) and the best possible sword in the game (netherite with Sharpness V and all other compatible enchantments at max level), best infinity bow in the game... basically the most OP of all possible tools.
I then decided to go end busting again, one last time. I started flying but then my game started glitching. I was in fly mode but falling forever and out of control. I fell in the void.
Was searching around the end for cities with random loot. Flying around, no problem, just rocketing across the void. At one point I was on an end ship trying to grab a dragon head and fell off. Normal me thought, "I've got wings, I'm fine." Pressed space bar to start gliding, only to realize that I was out of rockets. So I slowly descended into the void, unable to escape the inevitable death that awaited me and my glorious gear/loot.

Ragefuel honestly.
(But it is, guiltily, funny in hindsight. Comedy is tragedy + time after all).

I was mining obsidian once with running water over it to make sure my newly-mined obsidian didn't fall into the lava beneath. I kind of assumed if I mined the block directly beneath me, the water would turn any lava below that to obsidian before I could fall in. Nope. I dropped into the lava, then the block above me was turned into obsidian an instant later, sealing me in.

I am an artist. All the art you see on my profile is by me, if it's not I will say so and whom its owner is.

That's what I do. So not really.
That's as funny as it was tragic. Thanks for sharing.
