See, 8 goes into 10 once. 100 is just 10^2, and 8 is 2^3. So add all that together and it's actually 1 + 2 + 3 = 6. So lava lasts 6 times longer than coal, even more than I previously suggested!

That's a lie, I already proved how lava lasts 6 times longer than coal, not 12.5. Definitive, mathematically based proof that cannot be disproved.
Anyways, what does it mean for 100 to forward slash 8? And how do you get 12.5 out of that?
Forward slash means divide. What he was saying is that 100 divided by 8 = 12.5, Therefore he says that lava lasts 12.5 times longer than coal.
Hes kidding bro.

its a glexpoit (glitch/exploit). And so, let the controversial wrath begin. Personally, I'll probably forget about this and never use it, but if you want unlimited furnace power, then why not.
Anyways, I'm gonna stop posting in here before I get called on trolling or spam.
Yes, I know that 100/8 is not 6. I was kidding.
But yea, it's a glitch, and using it is exploiting. Nobody cares so much about this issue though, since fuel sources aren't hard to come by. Nobody's going to get their panties in a wad over this one.
Notch has tweeted that in a future update the buckets will no longer be consumed in the furnace. That will make lava buckets slightly more useful. At least then if you have a whole bank of furnaces, you can make many stacks of sand and smoothstone without having to worry about fuel waste.
Why not play the game the way it was meant to be played?
It's a sandbox game. It wasn't "meant" to be played in anyway. Personally, I wouldn't use this, but it annoys me to see others telling eachother how to play the game.
There was no imperative in that post. Only a question. Funny how that gets interpreted as an imperative though.
No, no, it's easy to do in your head.

I hate you 4-5.. no, 6 times more.
Ref to me please and thank you!
God you had better be trolling.
100 / 8 is 12.5.
Lava lasts 12.5 times longer than coal.
I hate you 12.5 times more.
See, how hard was that?
see what i did there?
