Because the rare item was not found in the first 2 hours...

I doubt it will even be found in the first day.

Perhaps we might not even be sure what it is till Notch confirms someone's hunch for what it may have been on twitter tomorrow.

It very well be something we found already (those purple arrows?), but have not been able to identify for what it is.

Everyone agrees with me

I just know that this is one of those things... such that if it does not get found near instantaneously by a user base this big, it must be so well hidden, or so subtle that we will probably need to be told what it is.

he MAY have added in pigmen.

EDIT: WAIT. Maybe he made cold areas actually snow?

I'm still tearing through minecraft.jar trying to find anything new.

EDIT EDIT: maybe... maybe slimes are back?

who says the code has the new secret as something private that we can't see because its name is different or just changed the code of something already existing.

Purple arrows are old. I believe in in(f)dev, skeletons shot purple arrows. Now they shoot the same as us.

I meant the broadest possible interpretation of item, as a "thing" (including possessable items, mobs, events, terrain features, or coding changes, etc.)

Someone saw this in the jar file. There is now an icon for both normal and purple arrows.

Yeah, I apologize. The purple arrow people were seeing turned out to be the skeleton's arrow.

Probably knew we'd look through and hid it in an already existing file.

They don't need new textures.

They are already in game. You can spawn them in SMP... they are in in every sense other than spawning naturally. That would truly be a lame speshel rare thing that only Notch knows bout, and gotta' tell us on his twitter thing.

I bet Notch is trolling us. He's probably trying to cause a huge shitstorm all over the forums.
