I was trying to make cake and forgot the recipe, so I went to check it, got back to minecraft and found I had a bunch of milk buckets that I didn't have before. Here's how it works. I don't think this happened before beta 1.2, but I never tried to put buckets in a crafting bench before, but I think this has to do with getting the bucket back when making cake.
I'm running WinXP, and I always run in full screen mode (F11). I don't know how or if this works on other systems, but it seems full screen, not maximized, mode is needed.
Go full screen, put some buckets in a crafting bench, go back to windowed mode, maybe switch to another program, though I don't think that's needed, then switch back to minecraft and go full screen with F11 again. The buckets (and everything else) that was in the crafting bench will pop out, only the buckets will be duplicated. If you had three in there, six will pop out.
If the buckets were empty when you put them in there, they will be workable buckets when they pop back out, but if they were full (I only tried milk and lava, I imagine water does the same) the ones that pop out don't work, if you try to empty them, the bucket & contents disappear from your hand. I didn't try putting them back in the crafting bench though, to see if they work that way.
I'll be reporting this on get satisfaction, so it will probably get fixed eventually, so get your free buckets while they last.
