Long ago, in the far corner of the milky way galaxy, lies a planet known as Minecraftia, a cube-like world that is utterly massive. Over Minecraftia, there is said to be 3 entities of epic proportions - Notch, the god of Minecraftia, the forger of life, Aetherus, the lord of the skies, and Netherus, the lord of the underworld. While only Notch holds true power, Aetherus and its sibling, Netherus, hold extreme powers in terms of suggestion. They hate eachother, and will do anything to kill eachother's servants. Notch doesn't interfere, for to interfere would possible break the scarce balance preventing the world from destroying itself...
Shortly after the worlds creation, animals and plants started evolving from the primordial ooze, molded with the help of Notch's guiding hand. However, there was one race that promised more than any other, and Notch was sure could help him stop the madness of Netherus and Aetherus; Pigs. Slowly, these pigs evolved into what could be known only as pigmen.
Pigmen where tall, powerful individuals, and together they forged a mighty empire, unable to be harmed by either side. Every threat they controlled or ended, all because of their want to stay independant, and all-powerful. Zombies from Netherus, Spiders from Aetherus, nothing could match their might. In the peak of their civilization, only one thing threatened them - the plant/animal soon to be known as Creepers...
One day, a green crater impacted in the middle of a tropical rainforest. The Pigmen milita thought nothing of it, and did nothing about it. That proved to be a mistake. Moss that was on the surface of the crater had mutated under the extreme heat. It grew to extreme sizes, and produced sulphur from its interior. They gained sentience. None of this was known until their army encountered the almighty creeper, who does all it knows how to - kill to sustain. By blowing up, spores fly everywhere, in search of something to sustain it. Bodies are perfect for this. After many battles, the pigmen managed to fence in the threat, making sure it would not spread.
But the biggest of their worries was no mortal threat, but a mental one. Weaker willed pigmen were seduced by either Netherus or Aetherus, into doing their malicious deeds. Over a few decades, portals to their respective realms were brought up in the middle of towns, in walls, in random woods, by these corrupt ones. They never knew what would occur. The entities of both the Aether and the Nether exacted their judgement upon the pigmen, Aetherus due to his hate for their un-holiness, Netherus because they wouldn't do as he says. Only 2 groups of pigmen survived - the few who escaped, and the ones who pledged full servitude and vassalage to their patron entities.
The groups of vassals, they became zombie pigmen, doomed to roam the nether and the aether, acting as protectors. The ones who escaped hid for centuries, waiting until every otherworldly entity left the planet. They emerged from their hiding places, finding a ruined, barren world. They roamed, attempting to establish new civilization. But they weren't pigmen anymore...
They were what you'd call, Human.
But now, it is up to you, mortal, to prove who you serve. Do you serve the 'holy' golden and blue armies of Aetherus, the 'deathly' iron and red armies of Netherus, or your own race, trying to seek redemption for your lost brothers. It is up to you to decide who your soul lies with.
Create. Destroy. Fight. Flee. SURVIVE.
TL;DR
2 guys get other guys to do stuff and bad stuff happens and you now need to make a choice.

Khorne, Slaanesh, Tzeentch, Nurgle - So many ways to die, so few times to do so.
ALTERNATE PROPOSAL:
You wake up on a beach out of nowhere and your astigmatism has suddenly gotten so bad that everything is cubes. Go and build a shelter before the genetic mutant plant things with ninja pro kill you to death!

i was worried you wouldnt include the "you wake up on a beach". speaking of which, the fact that you always spawn on a beach (well, 100% of the time on sand about 70% of the time near water) is probably the only element of story in minecraft, but was it only added in alpha? I've never played indev or infdev.
In indev, you spawned in a random place, but you didn't have any of these fancy chunks or anything, just a 256x256 map. In Infdev, I think it was only on grass.
Anyways, I meant for this to be more of a thing seen like an intro to the game itself.
When you start a new map, you would have something where it should depend on the biome, or if it stays beaches, then say that you wake up on a beach.

How about this:
A creeper one day found a portal to the nether.
He entered the nether, and took 2 steps and walked in lava. He burned and burned.
A ghast noticed a fellow friend, and helped him out of the lava.
When he got out of the lava, he was no longer a creeper, but a human.
The ghast, terrified, chased the human out of the nether.
Upon leaving the nether, his creeper brothers knocked out the strange human, and carried him to the ocean.
Human wakes up, scared and confused.
Sounds extremely cliche.
3 Gods, different factions, we've already seen this 2000000 times in other games...
I really appreciate all the work you obviously put into this, but I think its JUST like every other rpg...
Believe it or not, I like the "you wake up on a beach" idea more. Just because.. well, there is a lot more mystery to it :wink.gif:
Maybe not that many games... But I certainly get what you mean.
At least it's better than just 2 factions.

way i see it: end up in the middle of nowhere with absolutally nothing, punch trees, make buildings, get your stuff blown up by creepers, scream f*** you notch, then realize its perfect.
YEEAAAA
i just asked for this and then this guy gives me it xD
is it becouse i asked for it?
No.
It's because I wanted to make a thread over an idea I head.
I'll be honest, acting like that makes it seem like your head is halfway up your ****.
WTF??? i was saying thanks and then youre just being a f*cka douce!
The way you phrased your sentence was poor, and lead me to believe that you were full of yourself.
Sorry, just remember - it's all in the phrasing.
Saying I gave it to you is untrue, I never gave you it, I made this for myself.
Then, asking if it is because you asked for it, makes you seem very full of yourself.
