I've decided to post this here since its not actually a mod, nor is it a download
I have translated the language file in minecraft from English to Norwegian. I wanted to share this with the rest of my country and hope you like it"
How to "instal":
1. Click run on the Start Menu and type %appdata%, click OK, open the .minecraft folder and open the bin folder
2. Open "minecraft.jar" with WinRAR or 7Zip.
3. Open the "lang" folder and extract "en_US.lang" to a temporary folder.
4. Open the temporary folder and open "en_US.lang" with WORDPAD, and not Notepad because notepad will probably screw up the file!
5. Delete EVERYTHING!
6. Copy this:
(long huh? )
7. Paste it in the "en_US.lang" and save it
8. Copy "eng_US.lang" and paste it back in the "lang" folder in minecraft.jar
9. Delete META-INF! (or else you will get a black screen when launching Minecraft!)
10. Close minecraft.jar and run Minecraft.exe
11. Enjoy!
Please post feedback like: "I dont like the name of Cobblestone", or "I've found a typo" etc.
Damn I hate these forums, having to repost because the forum's server's suck.
I don't speak Norwegian but I am impressed you did this, have a big golden star from me.

That took ages to do!
I also needed to repost the OP(except the Language code) because of 502 error!
Well, i also needed to rewrite the .lang file since the power cutted off when i was almost finished, so....it was lot of keyboard smashing at that moment!
but WHY? Surely Norwegians, and especially those interested in Minecraft, understand basic English anyway, right?
I translated this for small kids who cant read/speak english AND for norwegians having issues reading english.
But mostly i did this to spread joy to the norwegain minecrafter!
I noticed that in some cases the words have been split incorrectly.
To those who are not Norwegian, and wouldn't know, this is a fairly common mistake to see in Norwegian forums and such, due to many words being split in English - it is often referred to as "orddeling", or humorously "ord deling" (applying the mistake to the term itself), which literally translates to "word splitting".
Some examples: (after the = is the correction)
Stone Sword -> Stein Sverd = Steinsverd
Diamond Pickaxe -> Diamant Hakke = Diamanthakke
I also noticed that "Hoe" has been translated to "Ljå", which is simply not correct.
The Norwegian word "Ljå" means "scythe", and as far as I know "hoe" and "scythe" are entirely different things.
Unfortunately, I do not know what the correct norwegian word for "hoe" is (despite being Norwegian) - I guess agricultural tools aren't my area of expertise.
I'm norwegian, but I still consider myself intermediate at english. I would prefer english over norwegian games because I actually read and type english faster than norwegian (I know, it's weird, right?)

Ok, mange takk for denne tilbakemeldingen!
I will correct it later.
Im norwegian, but it looks like you know more about grammar :smile.gif:

The direct translation of hoe to norwegian is strangely enough "Hakke" witch means pick. But when you look at the use of the hoe, it`s more of a tiler, "grapse" in norwegian. You turn the dirt with it. I think that is the closest correct word to use. But then again, the texture of the hoe looks like an scythe (ljå). This is getting complex, guys :smile.gif:
:smile.gif:
Ble mye bedre nå. Men her følger litt flisespikkeri fra meg :smile.gif:
menu.multiplayer=Online
- "Flerspiller" er et bedre norsk ord etter min mening.
menu.mods=Modifikasjoner og Teksturpakker
selectWorld.title=Velg Verden
- "Teksturpakker" og "Verden" skal begge ha liten forbokstav.
menu.options=Instillinger...
- "Innstillinger" skrives med to N'er. Ser det er skrevet med én N flere steder.
connect.failed=Koble til serveren misslykket
- "Tilkobling misslykket" klanger litt bedre.
disconnect.disconnected=Frakoblet fra serveren
- Overflødig "fra", kan godt skrives som: Frakoblet serveren
disconnect.lost=Mistet koblingen
disconnect.closed=Kobling stengt
- "Tilkobling" høres litt bedre ut. :smile.gif:
texturePack.folderInfo=(Plaser teksturpakken her)
- To S'er i "plasser".
tile.farmland.name=Fin jord
- Hva med "Dyrket jord"? :smile.gif:
options.viewBobbing=Vis Bobbing
- "Bobbing" skal ha liten forbokstav, men er litt usikker med hva som menes med "view bobbing". Hvis det er at kameraet svaier mens man går kan det kanskje kalles "Synsfeltbevegelse" eller noe slikt.
options.limitFramerate=Framerate begrensing
- Orddelingsfeil. Kan ensten skrives som "Framerate-begresning" (med bindestrek siden "framerate" er et fremmedord), eller "Begrens framerate".
I just noticed that Norwegian is basically German with even måre strænge letters. (Did I pronounce that right?)
Steinsverd = Steinschwert. Diamanthakke = Diamantspitzhacke or Diamantpickel or really just Diamanthacke. (Depending on dialect and preference.) Hakke (for hoe) = Hacke.
Yes, they're very similar, all though there are some significant syntactical differances. I.e in german language the verb often comes at the end of the sentance, in contrast to norwegian language where the verb usally is at the beginning or the middle of the sentance.
Yoda, from Star Wars, speaks with a german-like syntax with english words (and the verb at the end); "Mining diamonore, you must" :smile.gif:

This is awesome, too bad norwegians that can't speak English will never find it.

I saw a gentle face, somewhat old, with a caring smile. He was slightly chubby, and he looked as welcoming as… Well, a welcome mat. When I saw him, I knew who it was.

Hopefully the language file means there will be selectable languages soon?
Good luck learning norwegian!

Takker så mye Gnomefather.

Let me help you with that: "Arbeidsbenk, Arbeidsbenk!!! Rullestein(?)! HAKKE! Gris! Gris! Skjelett! Grus!"
Og forresten, takk for språkpakken. Selv om jeg kanskje ikke kommer til å bruke den så er det sikkert flott for de som trenger den :smile.gif:

I will thank skag1 and forbjok for correction of the words!
I still haven't changed "ljå", and I still need a suggestion for "inventory"!
