I was just thinking of Randomly generated void-holes. It will be a hole in bedrock 3x3 blocks wide. It will be quite rare (1000 per world), but also dangerous when encountered.
Pros: Can be used to dispose of waste and push mobs in for fun.
cons: Can fall through and die and accidentally throw your valuable item in it.
Also doesn't generate in Hardcore.

Being a nerd is noting to be ashamed of. Who made the internet? Nerds. Who made computers and tablets? Still nerds. Who made every game you played in your life and ever will? Nerds, nerds, and more nerds. I am a nerd and I'm proud to be one.
No support. It defeats the point of not being able to get to it in survival in the overworld.
It makes the game harder

I don't think the void was meant to be seen for 3 reasons.
1: Digging down to a void just doesn't make sense, I understand it's a game an all, but it's like you're breaking the forth wall or something yo-know? 2: It'll take away the imaginative possibilities of what's on the other side (one might even think it's the Nether). 3: Someone digging downwards will fall in thinking that there's a barrier of bedrock protecting them from the void (winch will be sad if one was wearing fully diamond armour, which they worked very hard and long to get).
>>>>It doesn't really make the game harder plus it would be a step back in the way the bedrock layer used to be. If you didn't know the bedrock layer used to have small holes back in the day (early beta). I can say with past experience that the holes pose no risk or interest being able to see the void, plus the holes were so rare you could barely find any and it would just be easier to throw your junk into lava. Mojang then came out with a patch that would randomize the bottom layer so the holes wouldn't form anymore. It would just be an unnecessary change that would revert the change already made to the bedrock layer. Are you suggesting that we need to flatten the bedrock layer again to allow for the holes to form or just create a hole in the already randomized bedrock "floor"? Unnecessary change in my opinion.
>>>>The wiki places the point at Beta 1.6 or Beta 1.8 when the change to bedrock layer occured.
There are already plenty of random pits in the survival world. Ravines...if you aren't careful enough, you can fall and die. Whats the difference between this and a void...a longer fall? Its just not necessary. Also, if its that rare, its just not purposeful.
Items can already be deleted easily just by tossing them in lava, and having a small chance of the game just going "screw you" isn't meaningful difficulty
This defeats the purpose of bedrock. Some people would believe that underneath bedrock is the Nether or underworld dimension. This basically ruins the concept of that. No support!
In no way does it makes the game harder. I doubt somebody would even be stupid enough to fall in a hole that only 1000 exist in a ~5M by ~5M, which makes about 1 every 50000 blocks.
This would just be useless. Absolutely no support!

just make a pit of lava to dump them in (and it's better when mobs burn C:< ). Ironically it's more safer from what your suggesting.
Yeah, the idea is not that good, besides it's kind of alredy ingame. If you dig down and find a lake of lava is going to be pretty much the same as falling into the void. You can't escape, and you lose all your items. Thats why I always dig a 2x1 hole when digging downwards
Congrats on being the 100th person to suggest either seeing through or going through the bedrock layer! You've won a...

The void is only there in case the player cheats their way through the bedrock layer. In survival, the bedrock layer is supposed to represent the bottom, the end. No way past.
Good job forum, you made the OP hate his own suggestion. -w-
But yeah...kind of been suggested similarly before, these would be way too difficult to find, and they make moot the point of Bedrock in the first place.

Over-suggested.
The void is there to limit the world generation so it isn't infinite on both the ground and the sky. The void isn't supposed to be accessed.
