This suggestion is to add a new species to MineCraft, The Honey Hornet. I chose to combine bee's and hornets into a single entity, thus allowing for the nifty nest design with the ability to produce consumable honey.
The Honey Hornets Hive and a Real Hornets Hive
My texture skills is not all that great.
These have a chance to be created in place of a leaf block any time a new tree is generated/created and act in similar ways as a leaf block.
If the supporting 'trunk' blocks are removed, the nest will decay in the same way that leaf blocks currently do. If this happens the player would take care to stay away for a bit.
The Honey Hornets themselves are only seen as a particle effect (a bunch of pixels flying about) that will cause damage if walked into or through, though they will gravitate towards entities.
The Honey Hornets Nest can be removed safely with a pair of shears.
They can be thrown a short distance, which will break the nest and produce a particle cloud that damages entities for a short time.
You can collect honey from the nest using Bottles
And you can place the nest in the center square of a work bench, place eight planks around it, and get a re-enforced Honey Hornet Hive which can then be placed for honey production.
But a visual way to know when a nest is "full of honey" vs empty would be important. Mking it like Milk Buckets with cows would be ridiculous (a single nest = infinite honey quickly bleh not a good thing).
You also don't describe what is done with the honey.
