Honestly i could not agree more with this idea, normal spiders on the surface are pretty weak... like when you find one is just "meh, just a spider".

Skeletons shoot arrows, zombies call their friends, creepers can cause much damage and destruction and spiders are fast and climb walls, but their weak attack damage and health makes them useless unless they attack in groups, spider nests would pretty much fix that, and not to mention it would be real nice to find cave spiders and webs out in the surface instead of being restricted to abandoned mineshafts.

it would be really awesome too if spider nests were more abundant in jungle biomes.

The only thing i would change in the loot is the damaged items... makes a lot of sense to find damaged armor and tools in there but stone and iron? way too common to even bother making a use of them, it would be better to find some materials instead... maybe some items that villagers trade, maybe wheat, apples, wool , flint, potatoes, arrows, books, glass, etc, etc (and maybe even an emerald but should be VERY rare)

I added the stone and iron tools for more of an RP feel than practical use to give the feel that these spiders killed past Steve's. happy you like the idea!

If the team is adding ocean, desert, and jungle temples, then this needs to be added too, lol. Genius idea !

this needs to happen asap. mmm and tamable spiders! which you could ride in the nether. and go up walls. and i love the treasure idea. of course spiders would horde treasure!

I like the idea of them creating nests if there aren't any around. I think they should spawn every 256 chunks (16 x 16 chunks) and if a nest is not within 100 blocks then a spider will create a nest, digging one block per every 3 seconds, with a maximum nest size of 20 blocks, occasionally generating cobwebs upon breaking a block.

Just noticed, why would the dens spawn in mushroom biome? One of the key characteristics of the mushroom biome is that hostile mobs don't spawn there.

I think this would be a great addition to minecraft. i think that the nests should be deep in the hill or something like that and also the boss spider is a great idea i think the boss spider should have a special ability that can shoot webs at you to slow you down.
