First: the Quern.
This grinds things down. I'd say you have to click it constantly to make it grind, but if it includes a piston somewhere a redsone current could work.
Or mechanical power.
Anywho, I can think of three things it can grind:
Wheat into flour. Pretty obvoius. Maybe makes two "flour" that can be made into bread or cake instead of wheat, more efficient on wheat stores that way.
Quartz into Polished Quartz, which could be used for optics if they get added. It can either be used as a lense, or as a mirror when backed with iron.
Bones into bonemeal, more effiecently. ("Fee Fiii Foo Foom, I smell the blood of an English Man...")
ALSO:
Possible workings of a mirror: bounce rendering rays off it instead of it being a camera and altering it's texture?
Right. Next time, I'll not post suggestions in the middle of the night.
Any who, little addition while I bump this:
Sharpening swords and other tools with the quern. Consumes a good amount of durability from the tool/sword, but gives a mining speed/damage boost respectively.
It seems really good, but how would we obtain Quern?
He said he couldn't think of the crafting recipe. I sort of support, I would just like it as a mod, because making something two ways isn't traditional to minecraft, except for the things you actually can make two ways. I know a few people who really like mods, so I might tell them if you decide to make it. ...Random Notch...
Here's two recipe suggestions:
Two stone slabes and a lever in a stack,
Or two stone slabs with two pistons and 2 redstone on either side(and maybe a lever on top.)
Also,
I would just like it as a mod, because making something two ways isn't traditional to minecraft, except for the things you actually can make two ways.
Little contradictory, eh?
I kinda meant it as a way to make polished quartz for optics, flour and bonemeal were "on the side"(although I don't think they can really be discarded, wouldn't make any sense.)
