When they announced equipment support for Dispensers I thought of it as a good way to improve on a general idea I've often seen (namely allies that are customizeable). Basically if a Snow Golem is in the space directly in front of a Dispenser it would be equipped with a piece of equipment from the Dispenser when activated. If the Snow Golem was given a sword (not a bow) it would switch from attacking with Snowballs to using the sword if the enemy got within melee range. Armor would give it full benefits just like how equipped undead get benefits from wearing armor. This could improve base defense while only being as good as what you're willing to spend on it.

All mobs technically have armor support through NBT tags, but I don't think you should be able to customize them in vanilla, there's not as much of a use as something like the iron-man-up systems you can do to yourself.

They may not be able to use boots or leggings (as stated above) and they would certainly only deal the damage of the sword you gave them. Otherwise I believe that Snow Golems should get a subtle buff like this.

On topic, it would be nice to equip golems to fight my battles for me, say in a mineshaft. T'were there only a way to get them to follow you. Then, it might be convenient to take a buddy along on a cave exploration trip. Ah, but that is getting a bit far-fetched. There definitely should be an improvement to golems in general (not just snowy ones). Otherwise, I support this.
This actually could have its uses. If they equip a bow, they turn from distraction, to an arrow golem. This would be great for a SSP/SMP map where players are hard to come by, especially for a fort.

Nice fractal video! I also just thought that if they add Skis and Ski-poles like they hinted/joked about on the Christmas/ New Year's Update that they could also be a good thing to give them. They could slide around extra fast like a turbo-scout! Sealing your golems into paths or turrets can keep them from wandering off, but prevents open combat. Base guarding is always good. I doubt they'd change the golem AI of a current one to follow you in Vanilla, but if they added a new golem like the current "Redstone Golem" idea or something similar they may give one that cabability when they make it.

If they have a helmet, they should be given immunity to the water and sun damage. I support this, have wanted it for a while!
Helmets on undead protect them from burning, so that should be extremely fair. Respiration enchanted helmets could protect from water damage, but having that as a default may be considered too easy by some.

Seems fair, I got a few extra helmets
They shouldn't be able to use swords heavier than stone (stick arms, not used to melee) but bows should be the preffered weapon.

I can see limiting the Snow Golem to using wood and stone swords. I rarely use iron or diamond swords myself unless I'm in "serious business mode". Bows are a tricky thought when it comes to balance. If they had unlimited ammo like a Skeleton they could rapidly become an unstoppable army to crush hoards of mobs with (admittedly they would still get nailed by most boss fights due to their low health and overly brave nature). If they had limited ammo then you would have to give mobs inventory support, and that could lead to a lot of unusual possibilities. Either way they would still throw Snowballs if they were out of melee range or had no sword. How about limiting armor? Any thoughts on whether or not to limit them on armor?

I'd say to limit them to only helmets, to keep things balanced and making sense. And if they are fighting enemies with unlimited ammo, why not give them unlimited ammo? Skeletons cant destroy hordes of mobs, often losing to spiders or even zombies.

You have a point about Skeletons still losing despite their endless arrows. In terms of armor I see them as either having helmets and chestplates of lower materials or having helmets of any sort. Skis (if they add them eventually) would be appropriate. I agree with the previous assertion that leggings and boots really don't make sense.
