Basiclly the way it works is you put certian item in it and they come out as a differnt item
#1 dirt would become sand to help clear out chest full of dirt into to something useful.
#2 Sand would become "fine sand" only real use i could come up with right now is if you smelted the fine sand they become bottles. If anyone has any ideas feedback would be nice.
#3 Gravel would become flint (duh) but every now and then you could get gold dust instead it would be pretty rare.I also dont have any real ideas on what you could do with it but i imagine it could have many uses.
So those are my ideas feedback would be nice thanks.
I'd rather see a grinder that lets you go from Cobble to Gravel, Gravel to Dirt, and Dirt to Sand. Or something of that nature. Renewable Dirt and Sand is something I would enjoy.

I completely agree with the above statement. I'd love to see more renewability in Minecraft and this would be a lot more "early game" than what I had in mind. I also like how it adds more uses for Wool.

If regular is Vanilla then what flavor is your Minecraft?

Agreed. I am a massive packrat, and freak out over non-renewable diamonds and stuff even though we have theoretical millions of diamonds underground.
It should also turn Netherrack into Soul Sand. Soul Sand still wouldn't be renewable, but it would still be easier to get some if it didn't show up within a few kilometers of your portal.

I remember making a suggestion similar to this a while back. My idea was that you could craft a sifting pan as an item and then right-click it on special types of sand, clay, and gravel to get a small chance at getting a gold nugget or something else, and then changes the block to it's normal state.

Dirt isn't harder to get than sand. Sand can only be found at beaches and deserts, dirt can be found in almost any biome.
I know this is a very late reply. I dunno why I never replied earlier. Anyway, sand is much simpler to get if you have a desert nearby, which shoudn't be too bad. I usually have tons more sand than dirt.
No support because I don't see the real use of having this ingame. Just looks like another way to get gold nuggets (I'm assuming you get gold nuggets from gold dust). Gold is supposed to be rare, and even if you made Gravel only have a 1% chance of dropping gold dust, there's so much Gravel in the world, gold would become almost common. And making it have a 0.01% chance of dropping gold dust would defeat the purpose, because it would become so rare nobody would even bother.
It should also turn Netherrack into Soul Sand. Soul Sand still wouldn't be renewable, but it would still be easier to get some if it didn't show up within a few kilometers of your portal.
Another good point. We now have the ability to make more Nether Brick blocks by smelting Netherrack, so this would seems like a good tie in. Think of getting a small Nether Fort with Wither Skeletons and Blazes, but no Nether Wart Farm. If you wanted to challenge the Wither you wouldn't even have the option of using the farm's Soul Sand for that.

Agreed.
Amen, brother.
@OT: Seems fine, but do I support or not?
An alternate timeline emerges.
However, we must first start from the beginning...
