Did you know that we use over one hundred pounds of gold to make a clock? Kinda silly huh.
So my idea is to change the recipes for a couple of item in the game.
First is the clock I think it should be gold nuggets instead of ingots. Seems fair enough to me.
Second would be adding a new item called an iron nugget. 1 iron ingot = 9 iron nuggets
these could replace the ingots for the compass like the clock
Third would be using the iron nuggets to make chain mail armor and make it a tier between leather and iron armor which would be nice to et started condiering it would take about 3 ingots to make chainmail if you are short on iron.
I'm sorry, but are you aware that Steve can carry 2304 cubic metres of solid gold with him? The crafting recipes are fine, they don't have to be realistic.
Also, Iron Nuggets making chain armour seems EXTREMELY cheap.
Just checked the wiki your kinda right Crimsoliite it would be little op to make chainmail like that.Should of done my research a bit better but i think the iron nugget has promise

We can also throw green pearls that can magically change our location instantly, carry 5 buckets of lava without hindrance and create powered circuits with conductive red dust.

Eh. Technically, one gold ingot would be capable of making a clock. I think using actual ingots is the more balanced method, because clocks can be extremely useful for some who are in caves. It also adds that much more reason to find gold, even though it's not that big of a reason. That's just me though, and not a dig at your idea.

This one's gonna be a big "no" for me. Iron is really not that difficult to find, and the nuggets are what add to the uniqueness of the not-always-too-useful gold. That uniqueness would be damaged if the nuggets were copy and pasted to iron.

Villagers already give us chainmail armor. Chances are, people are gonna skip the chainmail and go for the better iron or diamond armor. If you have enough iron nuggets to make chainmail armor, then you most likely have enough actual ingots to make the better armor instead. Though I guess if you really like the chainmail look and don't mind the lower durability, the option would be there.

Uh, we've had Villagers giving us chainmail for... quite a while now. Since late May of last year. The tier between leather and iron already exists. It's both gold and chainmail.
Ahem, chainmail wouldn't really be used. Think about it. Now that you have to breed mobs to get more, leather armor is basically never used. Getting full iron armour within night 2 is easy, why would they waste time making chainmail armour just to replace it 10 minutes later? And with the clock using gold nuggets... No. It is fine the way it is.
