This is an amazing idea! It would be great for builders and regular players alike! A variety in wood colors/materials is long overdue.

does this support texture packs? if like ANY texture pack supported this?

Thing thing I'm wondering is... Why haven't the added this yet? Oh yeah, because of how many textures they would have to make plus how many item IDs I think this will use. I'm still a little confused on how item IDs work but the main thing is just how long this would take with only a few texture artists who are doing their work on the stuff Mojang has been working on recently. Plus they jsut added 2 new kinds of wood so... Dear God at the textures they have to make...

They only have to make maybe around 8 textures. All other items are just remaps of the wood texture.

Here's a list of textures that would need to be made...

• Doors: 5 textures
• Trapdoors: 5 Textures
• Book Shelves: 5 Textures
• Chests: 5 Textures
• Crafting Tables: 5 Textures
• Trapped Chests: 5 Textures
• Total: 30 Textures

But to be honest, this isn't too hard for them. These are just recolors after all.

You make a good point. I was including sticks and stuff but even then that wouldn't bring the count up that much... Whatever, this is a brilliant idea and I fully support this.
