Well, I'm not so sure this has been posted about, maybe thought of but surely not posted.
My idea for this would be something along the lines of, daily you see new mods put together and mod packs such as Technic/Tekkit, Yogbox, FTB, etc. Correct am I not?
Well instead of single downloads for each Mod/Mod Pack I believe these should be included into the the Minecraft.exe launcher for your desktop, possibly for the Browser as well.
Yes I know that Mojang, Yogscast, and the Technic/FTB creators are in no way in touch but if Mojang made an effort, for the community that isn't all in for Vanilla Minecraft we could a launcher together and like the Texture Packs button in the Main Menu you could select from a Mods menu and check off which ones you want and don't want.
On the topic of collaborations, It's not much of a collaboration between two single parties but if they'd add a skin switcher or something along those lines, where they're in your .minecraft folder and you can select the one you want to wear from the Main Menu by clicking the 'Skins' button.
Just a few thoughts, tell me what you think about this idea. If you're not interested and have any hate or mean thoughts keep them to yourself and kindly leave.
If you agree with this suggestion please vote up this topic, if not..Thank you for viewing this topic and have a great holiday season. -B.
People who want to use mods can get them on their own or in a modpack launcher. Plus, If I understood you correctly, the client would have to download every single mod, texture pack ,and skin. Mods would conflict causing major problems. AND how would someone find what they are looking for while swimming in a massive sea of mods, skins, and texture pack that gets deeper every day.
If someone wants a mods/modpack I don't see why they can't do it themselves. Plus modpack launchers are easy to install anyway. Mojang is giving us the API. I think that is good enough. Their main focus should be adding and improving vanilla.
No support.

Well the Launcher would come with the mods installed, if you say the Launcher would have to download each mod do you mean it would be a longer, but singular download? Then yes, it would take longer but it's more compact. No need to have every mod strewn about randomly.
And to select mods there would be simply categorized with alphabetical orders, #'s, etc.
