Don't you just hate it when a map abruptly ends at a huge bedrock wall and making the landscape so ugly? Want to restrict the player to a confined location without ruining the view and landscape?
Why not (zoidberg) Bedrock Glass?
What is it?
It's a completely invisible and transparent block which is also unbreakable, like bedrock.
How is it made?
It can't be made in survival, it's for mapmakers, like bedrock: in the creative inventory only.
Wait, so how will mapmakers build with it if they can't see it?
They can see it Bedrock glass is special, and it can only be seen in creative mode. It will appear like this:
Alternative texture?
It's the bedrock texture placed into the visible parts of the glass texture, my photoshopping skills are bad.
Which one do you prefer?
The only problem is how exactly this can be coded, any suggestions?
This is how it looks like to people in survival:
I think this would be nice if added in, as mapmakers currently have to resort to using invisible ladders using MCedit, and those will collapse once updated, and are therefore very weak.
What do you think?
Invisible ladders would still stay to make invisible traps though.
Invisible Lighting
This is essentially the same as Bedrock Glass, also invisible to players not in Creative mode.
Note: Pretend the grass block is underneath the retextured glowstone
What is the message saying 'must be opped player in creative mode' you ask?
No, it's not the command block, it's the player trying to open up the Invisible Light's GUI!
How it looks like in creative: (somebody design a better texture?)
This is the GUI a Creative mode player will open up, which allows the player to change the light level of the Invisible Light!
Is the block a solid or a transparent block(can you place for example redstine or ladder on it) ?
Is the block moveable with pistons?
PS: I apologies for my bad English
Since the block is partially bedrock it would make sense for it not to be movable by pistons, which would render such walls useless. Also it should be a transparent block, cause torches would look look weird floating for example.
Not a bad idea. Could be easily coded as a Forge mod. Just would require 2 separate renderers for the 2 scenarios and a main renderer to determine how to view the block. Great thing is that this mod would require practically no server side code (other than adding the block!)
Could be useful. I find it as challenging to make actual terrain that blocks out player's climbing over it, especially in ruins, that don't look ugly and out of form with the rest of the broken heaps. This would be a good solution, except for the fact it looks ugly to anyone not on survival.
lenmae good point, I totally forgot about that. Since it's partially bedrock it shouldn't be movable by pistons, like normal bedrock, and it would be a little weird if it's a solid block and the player placed a torch on a transparent block to them, or simply placed a ladder on it to climb over
Very good idea, but the Bedrock Glass (not the Invisible Light) should be transparent, but able to place stuff on it. Why? Because a floating torch, ladder, sign, etc. would be awesome!

You wouldn't forget, because you can actually see the block, but only in creative.
