Ghost mode is a new game mode I came up with. It is what I would consider to be the exact opposite of creative and survival mode, and in a sense one might consider ghost mode to adventure as creative is to survival.
Ghost mode's main purpose is to provide an alternative to being completely banned from a hardcore server when you die. Instead of banning, people are switched into ghost mode, where they can freely fly around, and view the world and the other players who haven't yet died. In this mode, you are completely incapable of interacting with the world around you, save fore looking inside chests. Other players can not see you, and you can not speak (or in this case, chat) with them. Ghosts can talk with each other though, so you won't feel lonely at least.
This would also allow people to be given a second chance if you so desired. While you could unban people who die in the current version of hardcore mode, the chances that they would come back to check if they've been unbanned are minimal. If someone was instead put in ghost mode, then you could simply switch their gamemode and they would be aware of the fact that they ever got a second chance in the first place.
Operators have access to commands that allow them to chat with and even see ghosts (and possibly even allow players to see and chat to ghosts as well.)
If having the wandering spirits of the damned roam you server doesn't suit well with you, then there's a new line in the server properties file that let's you change it so that players are banned instead.
I hope for some good constructive criticism, and some nice feedback! But I get what I get, if no one likes it I won't argue.
"You don't honestly care if your new Crystal Meta-Sword is going to clash with your Elite Boss Clogs! It's about the numbers! You want the items with the best numbers so you can use your numbers to decrease the enemy numbers until your numbers are the best in the land!" -ZeroPunctuation
It isn't a bad idea, but I really don't see a point in adding it. Especially if all you can do is just fly around and not talk to anyone or do anything. I would just play on a different server if I died on a hardcore server and hope that they eventually unban me. This is even more true when you think about the fact that server sizes can be rather limited, so I doubt admins would want slots being filled by ghosts.
One small suggestion I would change is to let ghosts talk to each other and be able to communicate with staff members.

I had to think about the issue with server size a bit. I first thought that ghosts could have they're own separate player count, but that would have made things to complicated. So I made the decision to give the admins the choice to choose whether they would have ghosts or simply ban players who died.
Ghosts being able to talk with each other seems like a great idea though. It would make things a lot less lonely. i'm not sure about talking to staff members though, it would be a bit odd and confusing reading an op have a conversation with someone you can't tell is even there.

Well, I was thinking it would be something along the lines of staff members being able to switch chat tabs between active and ghost players and only the ones in the tab he was talking to could see it.

I added a new line talking about how ops can see and hear spirits of the dead and such using commands. (Ghosts talk to each other using a completely separate chat group, but it is possible for you to be in the two groups at the same time.)

make a danny phantom skin to go with and I might support
Couldn't make one if I wanted to, I'm not very skilled with making skins. Besides, I don't except bribes. You either like the idea or you don't.
