Hello fellow Minecraft Forumers. My name is SwagBossOpera, and I present to you, a new idea that would let more Gamers play Minecraft. Mojang can put Minecraft on steam, which will also boost sales, and income.
Well, many Gamers do not have a credit card. Some people use their parents. But for online sales, many parents are against giving their credit card information on a website. Well Mojang, here's where you come in.
Steam is an online store, where you can purchase PC games, and PC game DLC. There are MANY Steam users, So if you were to put Minecraft on steam many more people would be aware of the game, and buy it.
So as I was saying, many people don't like to put their Credit Card information online. That's why Steam would be a good store to put it on. You can buy Gift-Cards for steam, which is basicly the money you use to buy the games. You can either buy money online, or at a store. This would increase your income by a LOT, and you would have many more players.
TL;DR: Put minecraft on steam so more people will buy it.
Simply stated, NO. Minecraft is not a game that should be out on a market with games like terraria or castle story. Minecraft is its own genre and it needs to stay that way.
Minecraft is intended to remain as an "indie" game for as long as possible, as stated by Notch himself. Please do research on that fact before making this suggestion. Personally though, I would like Minecraft on Steam, just for the integration of the interface.
It's been said a bunch of times that it will never be on Steam, and there's even a splash text saying that.

When will Minecraft stop updating? When pigs fly over the frozen plains of hell, twice in a blue moon, while Taylor Swift sings a song called, "Maybe I'm the Problem".
Introducing new players via steam would be pointless as minecraft's popularity is word-of-mouth based. Not to mention steam would hinder their updates. Oh, and you can buy minecraft cards in gamestop and best buy now..as long as you're in america.
I cant believe what I am hearing in regards to all of this.. People say it shouldnt be on steam because of support issues and update issue or even cause the popularity is word of mouth based..
The honest truth is it has nothing to do with any of that.. I mean support up and updates ?? really if that was a serious issue no game would ever get put on steam. I mean any program on a computer has updates so you would have to have something in the steam platform that was designed to handle such things. The same thing could be said for service issues as well..
Then there is the comment I saw about it being the word of mouth thing.. well it seems to me that having it on steam wouldnt change how people talk about the game.. or spread word about it. If anything it would help by creating yet another way for people to gain access to the game.. i mean the more ways for a person to get it the better off the company would be...
In the end I cant help but feel they cripple their own growth as well as cut into their profits in a very serious fashon. I see it as flawed logic at best
I think it's a terrible idea. Minecraft should be stayed as an Indie Game and not with steam. And I think Notch (Or Mojang) said that Minecraft will never be on steam.
No. But if you want to play Minecraft on steam so badly, do this:
1. Go on Steam.
2. In the Library, click "Add Game."
3. Click "Add Non-Steam game."
4. Select Minecraft and anything else you want.
5. (Optional) Set Minecraft's category.
Minecraft should be on steam. Notch previously said it would make maps harder to use, but really it would be easier: just look how skyrim and Gmod work with steam. KSP was indie, still is, but now it's indie on steam. I already had it so I got a code. Thus we could easily do the same for minecraft. It would make screenshots, maps, mods etc easier to share, could still use this forum or a new one (never really used steam forums, too busy gaming) more buying, and overall better. The transition would, as shown by KSP, be actually really easy, especially since they are only using mojang because they are ego-greedy.
