your chopping wood. it is a long, boring process. chop chop chop. all day long. then, you notice its getting late. the monsters will be about soon. so you walk into your castle. its pretty big, and your right in the middle of it. you wait and wait and wait. the monsters just ignore your castle. if you come on the wall, a spider or 2 may try to climb the wall, but will fail each time, and eventually die of fall damage. its really boring, unless you come to the mobs. the mobs should come to you!
i have a huge castle that protects me well. a little too well. i wish it would be fun to protect it! so here are my ideas.
-flying enemies
now i have made threads about them before, so you may have seen these ideas.
condors- large birds that fly around the sky's. during the day they are passive, but at night they are hostile. they can fly over your walls and attack from above, so the can be a real nusance. they are rare since they are rarer not only because they can fly, but because when 1 spawns, it has a 1/5 chance of carrying a zombie, skeleton, creeper, or spider, only on normal and hard. if it is carrying a mob, it will drop over your head, and then attack like they would regularly. the mob and the condor count as 2 seperate mobs, so if you kill one, the other is still alive. they have a mere 6 health, and will take damage from flying right into blocks. they prefer to stay away from the ground unless a player has been spotted. they can see from 32 blocks away. when they die, they drop 1-3 feathers.
crows- basically a smaller version of the condor, except instead of carrying mobs, it has a 1/10 chance of carrying a block of tnt on hard mode. the tnt will explode on impact, so be very care full. they have 4 health, so a well aimed arrow takes them out in one hit. however, if you hit the crow, it drops the tnt. if you hit the tnt,
the tnt blows up, killing the bird. it drops 0-2 feathers. they are a bit rarer, too. they will also peck at your wheat if no one is around. so set up a scarecrow. it is a new utility mob that is made like an iron golems, except with fence posts. they are completely in-animate, but no crow or condor will com within 16 blocks of it, even at night. scarecrows will spawn in villages, too.
ghosts- a transparent steve with a ghostly tail and white eyes like herobrine, they can levitate to reach their target. however, they do not like light, and will stay away from it. they can turn invisible for a few seconds, but cant move through walls, not sure about drops.
-seiges
after getting the achievement "the end." a horde of monsters would appear within 64 blocks of you every full moon. all monsters would have a search radius of 64, and they can see you through walls. also, zombie miners would appear and slowly break down cobblestone, stone, and stone bricks, and other stone materials. zombie lumberjacks would slowly break down logs, wood planks, and other wood materials. ladder zombies would place ladders on your walls over time to get to you. these zombies would be rarer, and would drop an iron pickaxe/axe/ladders.
remember back in survival test when zombies and skeletons wore armor? well i dont, but it sounded cool. during seiges, zombies and skeletons would have a small chance of wearing a helmet or a chestplate. skeletons would fire there arrows MUCH MUCH MUCH farther, and they would be more accurate. spiders would climb walls longer, and spider jockeys would be much more common. creepers would blow up large amounts of player placed blocks, and enderman would automaticaly be aggresive towards you when within
64 blocks.
-cannons
now, you could pick out these monsters by bow, but it would take too slow and the zombies would bust down you wall.to deal with big groups, you could use cannons! cannons would be crafted like dispawnsers, but instead of cobblestone, it would be iron blocks. to use them, you simply right click them and you will sit down in front of it like you where in a vehicle. you would exit in the same fashion. to fire, left click, and it would fire anything launchable from your inventory, along with tnt. when tnt is fired, it will blow up on impact, but wont leave a crater. you can also make cannon carts like a chest cart and a furnace cart. the cannons can pivot and go up and down, and the carts can actually move around on tracks.
This wouldn't make it fun to protect your base. It would only make it annoying, and add griefers to destroy your hard-worked for creations.
First, the crow. If it doesn't carry TNT, then does it do absolutely nothing but look for wheat? Also, does it drop TNT on you? It seems kind of pointless if it doesn't, because you could just ignore it. And if it does, then it becomes a griefer to destroy all the projects you've worked hard on. At least with creepers, you could just not go near it; it sounds like these crows will actively seek you, and because they fly, you cant avoid them. I like the idea of scarecrows, though.
The condor actually seems pretty good. I like your idea; I haven't heard it before. Because the mob takes fall damage, the condor isn't too overpowered. However, I don't think it should be able to carry creepers, for the same reasons I do not support the crow with TNT.
I like the idea of the ghost. It isn't too gruesome (I've seen suggestions with some disgusting design ideas), and it isn't overpowered because of its fear of light.
Do crows and condors spawn in the light? Because it would be unpleasant if they can spawn in your house, both for you and the mob.
I do not like the seige idea. Just because you defeat the dragon, the game gets harder? Can't you just carry on building your projects without having to worry about more difficulty? Also, these are super griefers. You seem to be forgetting that Minecraft is largely about building, and that combat is an addition. Imagine: you build this very impressive statue, and you even make it a house. Then it just gets torn down. That's no fun. For similar reasons, I do not approve of the creeper's increased blast radius. For aggressive endermen, remember that they have a far vision distance and can teleport. You'd basically be ambushed about every minute, even if you just want to sit back, relax, and listen to your music disc without the chaos of combat. I do like your armor idea, though.
Cannons don't sound too bad, except I would prefer it if it was like a dispenser with the ability of launching primed TNT. It wouldn't feel like Minecraft if war technology were added. It has good potential though, but the main problem would be easier griefing.

yeah. i didnt really put much thought in it. im really tired and i just got back from camp and im really worn out. i could probably add more and fix tweaks.

i read what you thought about seiges, and i agree. you should be able to build in peace after the enderdragon is destroyed. i just thought it would be a good way to make the game harder, because people seem to say its too easy, which i can see. this should only happen on hardcore mode.
the cannon would not be a greifing tool because the tnt it launches doesnt break blocks.
