So far the only way to repair your stuff is to combine a like item with it Fallout style. The two items are consumed and you get one item with the combined damage level of the two.
But, doesn't everyone just use up their tools and start a fresh one? There should be some incentive to repair. I am thinking this:
For every enchantment that enters the repair process, it has a 10% chance to carry over to the resulting weapon/tool. Either like enchantments will stack or only the better one will stay. Conflicting enchantments will follow the original "weight" algorithm used in the initial enchantment.
This gives an incentive to repair instead of using the weapon up. It is given a chance in such a way that it is a pleasant surprise when it does happen, but you can't really count on it happening.
I like this idea. How about also being able to just repair the tool's handle to fully repair durability and keep enchantments (since the wood handle is liable to break off the diamond handle or break before the iron/diamond/gold/stone tool's handle is).
