Most servers have simple plugins to stop placement of blocks. So stopping the placement of the actual blocks of gold seems like it would also negatively affect people who like to use it for nice looking structures. But I guess you could also just use a plugin to stop them from turning into golems.. but that is just alot of extra server-sided effort for something that is easily just not there in the first place, right?
Let me elaborate with a personal example.
One of my greatest suggestions is the nether rift; it is a device with dozens of positive uses; but it also has a limited capacity to grief. However, the ability to grief should not foreshun the concept in general. It's not even a question of enabling/disabling through server-side controls in my opinion.
If the greatest worry about a suggestion is it's griefing potential and the potential isn't glaring (player-placed OP blocks); then I'd say it's a weighing of possible positives to possible negatives; all things being equal.

No, but it should be taken into consideration and not ignored. Whether or not the game is designed for single-player with some consideration for multiplayer, you should consider the affects that will inevitably port over. I assume it's why Iron Golems were never designed to aggro players in the first place, unless you attacked them first. Otherwise it would make sense that testificate villages would protect against all outsiders, especially when they look nothing like themselves.
Oh wow. I love the Idea of a Gold Golem. Not only will it add more life to the currently bland desert, but also be more of a challenge to the currently boring Pyramid (TNT= Easily avoidable if you know how to avoid the pressure plate in the center of the pyramid)
Here's some gold ingots you can use to build it (the Golem) with.

So you can make iron golems but not gold golems? Why not?
Gold Golems are ment to kill players. as i said in the thread The golems can NOT BE CRAFTED Because of Potential PVP abuse. would you like someone to fill your house with angry golems? Didn't think so
So we're adding a mob that you might see in a RARE structure, ONCE per structure? At least silverfish had some use, too. This has none.
I've punched iron golems to death with my fists. It's not hard. Hell, you wouldn't even need to do that. You could build a 2 wide wall 3 blocks high, and punch him through a hole in it.
And honestly, what's the point? Do we need ANOTHER golem reskin that does the same thing, just attacks more? It's not like fighting golems is a challenge unless there's a crapton.
So... You think that pyramids are too easy, someone comes up with a creative solution to the problem and you don't like it. Oh I know! This means that you have your OWN solution to the problem to bring to the discussion then!
I think the idea is great because the pressure plate trap is easy to get around. It makes the pyramid much more of a challenge which it should be. I really hope mojang makes something likes this.
Did you like my model?

if anything pigmen would be in jungle villages, not pyramids. It just didn't fit

I get what you mean, yet pyramids are burried half the time and seem more like ruins than structures for a living thing to dwell in.

I agree that something that's living naturally really wouldn't be defending a pyramid lost in time.
