I fully support this, but I'm not sure about the spawn eggs at all. If its considered a "mini-boss", you can't get boss eggs in creative, also you can't even get snowgolem/irongolem eggs. So to me, it wouldn't really make sense.

Spawn eggs are creative only. Their purpose for this scenario is to help adventure maps be constructed with the golem. As for the other golems, they are built mobs like the wither so they do not require a spawn egg...
Still peddlin' the golden guardian idea, eh Dingo? Hope it gets accepted by Mojang..
Also glad to see my quote is still up there. Just under the wrong name now. (If you don't recognize me think "Original model")
i love the idea of gold golems but i cant keep thinkingthat the reason people keep pestering you to allow taming is not because they want a overpowered boss pet but simply BECAUSE IT's SHINY
i had an idea about additional mechanics that can solve the issue of people wanting to tame them without actually giving them real gold golems.
how about a tweak to iron the ability of iron golems to "" don "" gold armor (there will be a special set pieces of which are dropped from defeated gold golems )
when given a full set of gold plate armor it will change their appearance to look simmilar to a gold golem but clear that it is wearing the armor and not really a gold golem, they will gain the damage reduction equal to the quality and any enchantments on the armor
(gold golem armor must be enchanted manually).
if attacked repeatedly the armor will be destroyed like a players armor and it will revert to an iron golem. additionally adding the posibility of a diamond golem later on possible as a stronghold boss and armored golem

Although i see what you mean i would not think this would be good because then everyone would want to be able to put the wolves in armor as well.
All in all this is an amazing idea +1, but do you really need the day count? Frankly, if the thread has lived for a long time (like Jellomob's Necromancy thread) then people will know by seeing it as the recent threads.....

I am meowing at my lung’s fullest. I would even argue that the echo that reverberates back to me is the voice of someone I know…
Support, but spawn eggs in a Multiplayer server? Too destructive....

This signature has absolutely no point at all. And then it has a point to inform you that it has no point, but it has no point because it really doesn't have a point, but it has a point because it tells you it has no point... and ah, screw this.
I was actually thinking more of Mummies for temples (stronger, alternate skinned zombies), but either way there needs to be more of a temple challenge.
I don't know about gold golems though. From my experiences the temples where not specifically incorporated with gold.
Very good idea though. Support.
I think this idea is great, but : as it is a Golem one should be able to build it....
I know you are concerned about it being abused for PvP/Griefing but please hear me out on this one.
1. it shold require something more valluable than a pumkin as a head (maybe a beacon?)
2. when crafted it will stay inactive (as decoration) unless attacked
3. you will be able to craft a "protective Talisman" like so :
= Gold Ingot(obviously)
= chizzeled Sandstone
= Emerald
that will have an Enchantment reading "Owner: <playername:crafter>".
When placed into a chest it will cause all player-made Gold-Golems in a radius to target any player opening that chest who is not the Owner of the Talisman inside.
Nooope.
We discussed this ages ago, it's not going to be buildable. We don't need any more pets damn it.

*doublepost*
Still, despite my support, the cockiness of the OP is sometimes just...disgusting.
Yet you are entitled to your own opinion, but I am also entitled to mine.

Oh, and what ability does your mob share with this one?
