If this is the spot you are talking about: these are extreme hills and extremely common in the current map gen. And they are just what their name would suggest: extreme hills. Nothing more. They've taken the place of marvelous mountains. This is the best that we have to work with in the modern map gen when we used to have this:
ok, the picture in the 2nd spoiler (marvelous hills) is beutifal, bring that back!
so, I read this earlier, and I agree, no more good above-ground seeds... then, I found this video:
I'm uninstalling my TerraFirma Cfraft, adn I'm re-installing my Portal mod for the second seed.
Perhaps this is what you're looking for? That second seed?

This is something similar to what we want. We don't just want a seed though - We want terrain like this to be more common and more abundant in most maps. Not just a 1 in 10,000 chance of spawning in a map like this.

I really meant the whole area. You have the hills, then a jungle, and then the flat valley underneath as one whole thing. I do realise that this is not the most flasy seed ever, but combined its a bit different then most you will find....

Thats exactly at I was gonna say. We want it to be like that almost every time, not 1 in 10,000

Which is my point: this is the best we can find with the modern terrain gen and I just feel a little tweaking could be done to improve this.
Ehrm, this seems more like a suggestion, than a seed to me...
Anywho, true I do miss 1.8 generation but i think 1.2.4/5 is a lot better, thats just me though.
All of your first post is basically just a matter of opinion.
As the poster above me stated this thread is specifically for sharing and discussing seeds. I am discussing the fact that there are many seeds but all of them are pointless as it's basically the same map. Whether opinionated or not this whole thread is a discussion of seeds and whether or not they even have a purpose any longer.
Honestly... I saw this thread and couldn't believe it! I love the new biomes! They are pretty cool though not much to explore but I'm ok with that. Then I opened that Remember Before 1.8 Seeds... Honestly I almost cried! I remember all those great seeds and they put the new ones to shame...*sheds tear of sadness* I'm a believer! Praise the lord!
By the way, don't forget to repost this please! More people need to see this! You have gone into depth what the problem is and how to fix it!

Yes, most of the people here are trying to somewhat bring back the beta world genrator

OP should update their first post so that way people who read it can know what everyone in the topic wants changed in the new gen. It would be more convenient for others who have the same opinion, but didn't feel like reading through 2 pages to find out what they wanted to be brought back. Just a suggestion
As for Pro-1.8 World Gen, i'm kinda on mixed sides about it. The new one i'm able to just type something in and be able to play in it, which I like. However, i did like how random stuff looked cool in the Alpha days.

There is a testimonial-type section below the original text. It is labeled "Our Supporters" if this is what you mean? If not could you please specify what it is you're talking about?
I don't want there to be an over abundance of mountainous ranges, no. I just want a differentiated type terrain. I don't necessarily want this every time but I do want this to be more common on most maps.
And here is a quote from a friend of mine in another thread that pretty much sums up my answer to your question -
Come on man, this isn't a nostalgia thread. We are for height variation, not hills and mountains spammed everywhere, even though seeds consisting of areas (NOT biomes themselves) of those would be cool.
Seems like your opinion, Toxic777, is pretty biased. I have gotten an amazingly beautiful seed that I have never seen before on 1.1 client before. The spawn didn't look like much though. It was facing a small forest of plain old trees but when you turn around and go over a hill you find yourself in a beautiful valley surrounded by enormous mountains with crazy floating islands and sweet overhangs. I also found that there are some cool places to place old Greek architecture in the sides of said mountains. I loved the seed so much I had given it to my cousin and we played with it on multiplayer. We opted to venture away from the well known and into mysterious lands. He ended up making a wooden outost ontop of another all mountain and I made a stone brick fortress below and a little across a little dip in the land which I used as (sort of) a moat. I am just saying that the views and experiences of you and your entourage aren't the same for everybody else's.
EDIT: Sadly I deleted the screenshots when I updated to 1.2. So I hope that you all will trust that what I say is in fact true.

It's funny at the end of your post you ask for our trust yet you have the audacity to insult myself and many others? My so called "entourage" and myself make up about 3/4ths the Minecraft population and not once did I or any of them state that there were no good seeds in this thread. I may have stated a couple of times that the seeds are pointless as every map is the same, but I also went on to say that "yes this may be over exaggerated but.. -insert explanation here-".
I am sure that my "entourage" and myself would agree that it is very possible to have some neat seeds in the modern terrain, but there is a very slim chance as (you just proved) most players who claimed to have found such a marvelous seed always fail to bring forth the evidence whether it be screenshot or the seed itself. I am sure that is it possible to get some cool terrains with the current map generation but it is unlikely. And when you do, still they cannot compare to pre 1.8.
You are entitled to your opinion as am I. I will not insult your opinion as I'm sure that map was good enough to live up to your standards. But I expect the same in return as this thread may be my opinion, but you still have no right to insult me or others who agree with me. Good day, sir.
Hey, I read this and totally agreed! Then while I started a new map which starts you in a large plains Biome next to a doughnut shaped hole on the ground, I got to building and I made my nice house. I decided to go and explore the desert and remembered there is NPC's in deserts and I always wanted to industrialize one. I found this NPC Village (uncomplete and ugly) next to a towering sandstone/sand tower with spider like patterns in it and in the far background (Just off the map in the pic) a huge hole in the side of a mountain! It took my breath away! The seed is 7623645140496004580 I have not explored any more past my map so I don't know if that's all there is! Here is the pictures!
I'm a scrub random at posting pictures so just open a new tab and copy paste the URL into it...
I am like the next veteran, reminiscing about an older version every night (Or in this case, when I play). I support fully. I also heard/saw someone suggestion a banner. Would you like one?
Anyway, if your updating, add me to the support list!
Would be awesome - would you be willing to create one for us?
As for the support list I'm not sure I'd like to do that as I wouldn't want the mods to get confused and think this thread is a suggestion. However, I do have a testimonials section labeled "Our Supporters" underneath the original thread if you'd like to submit one feel free to post it here and I'd be more then happy to update the original post with it

Those are not links. You may want to upload them to www.photobucket.com and then try linking us through that. The thing you pasted above is just a path to where it is located onto your computer. There is no way for us to access them. What are the coordinates to the position next the "breathtaking mountain" you're talking about?
And I'm not sure how clear I've made it so maybe this will sum it up. I do not want a complete rollback to the 1.7 terrain generation because that would mean losing all of the awesome post 1.8 content features such as NPC's, the end, jungles, villages, ravines, etc.. I do not want to lose all of those features as I personally enjoy them. We just want a more diverse and wild terrain generation such as that of 1.7 implemented into the game along with the post 1.8 updates.

Aren't we technically discussing seeds?
